There's already a 3rd and Chavis thread, breh.

John Chavis' defense with aTm defensive talent will be an epic failure. No chance of success, at all.

He does need elite talent. Even last year was insanely awful just bc of youth.
I do still want him though and think he's a great DC. I couldnt see him lasting long at atm though

I'm puzzled by the whole thing tbh. The downgrade in talent and depth for his unit will be significant. His schemes that have been successful at LSU have been predicated on having solid talent at every position. Can you imagine AtM's corners being left on an island like White and Collins? Every receiver in the SEC would look like Amari Cooper.

If he goes, and all indications are that he will, he and Sumlin will be gone within 3 years.

A&M defense will be better. If it gets to good, they will be scary.

A&Ms defense will be better, but Chavis will not be able to have the kind of defense he's had at LSU. As much as we hate LSUs conservative offense, there's a big give and take with the type of offense A&M runs. Name a team that runs a spread up tempo offense that has an elite defense?

Sucks for now, especially in light of today's performance.
However, it will spice up the agsy rivalry. I can't see how he will be as effective with agsy's TOP. It will also take a while to turn things around at agsy. It will be interesting to see where we all are three years from now.

I think Chavis is great and it will suck to lose him. But, his success the last few years is due to having Patrick Peterson, Mo Claiborne, Tyrann Mathieu, Tharold Simon, Eric Reid, etc. He has had the best talent in the country to run his defense with, especially in the secondary.

by the time Sumlin heads to the NFL Chad Morris will be seasoned at SMU and ready to step up to kick the SEC in the nuts
