Staying in Slidell Wednesday and Thursday night for the Sugar Bowl. Any good places to eat, anything fun to do at night there? Also, what's a good place to eat in New Orleans that isn't around the French Quarter area? We would like a place that's fairly easy to park near, possibly away from the crowds, where we can get some lunch and maybe watch one of the games.

Nathan's
Young steak house
Speckled T's
Southside cafe (it is a must)
Yee Chinese as someone mentioned is great
Kenny Seafood for great poboys

Not much to do in Slidell, I know I live there. I would venture to Magazine st in N.O. or Oak st. The quarter will be a mess this week with New Years and the bowl game.

trident pretty much sums it up. Young's is really good, but is pretty much the only "nice" restaurant in Slidell. Southside is solid for food and drinks.

If I were him, I'd try to park close to the dome and take a cab uptown or to the warehouse district if he wants to be a little closer to it all.

Tons of places to eat and bars.
