I'm thinking he's on a faster track to a rehabilitated public image and another shot at running a big-time program than anyone might have guessed six or nine months ago. Another year like this one (which for competitive reasons I hope does NOT happen) and he's short-listed re: a lot of conversations this time next year.
Frankly, and begrudgingly, another reason to tip your cap to Nick.

I think this is one of the best things that could have ever happened to him. Getting to learn how Saban does things is going to be extremely valuable when he inevitably gets another HC gig.
I think he's gonna learn from his past mistakes as a HC and spend some time under Saban and end up making a bad arse head coach. He is only like 40 or something....right? Can't be too old.
Also not to say he's gonna have Saban's style of coaching but he will definitely learn just little details on how to run a cfb program.
But I agree with you. People will still certainly hate him but all this recent success has done wonders for him and his reputation as a coach.

Big difference in being.a coordinator and a head coach. Don't see any major program beating a path to his door right now.
Best thing Lane can do is to shut his mouth and work for Nick for a few years and learn from the GOAT

I agree. If you are referencing what I said I was more talking about in the next few years. Not necessarily this offseason or anything.

After Butch finishes what is left of the Vol program in the next year or two, I could see the Vols bringing him back to give it a go again.

He is probably learning how to be a head coach under Saban. He should get another shot in college or the pro level in the future. I am actually finding him likable.

I guess that's my point. At this rate it might not take years. Maybe one more like this one.

Wouldn't mind him taking over for Nick once he retires.

If Kiffin stays around until Saban decides to retire, I really think he would get the job.

Kiffin has a better shot of becoming the Chi O house father than becomming Alabama's next head coach

Still think he would be a great NFL O-Coordinator.
