Well 8 years ago people thought it was crazy we were paying him $4M a year, now that's the standard for your top coaches. And now we're at the $8M/year. $10M wont be far away

I hope he gets 10 mil. and a guaranteed 10 year contract that raises his pay a mil per year. it's the least y'all can do for the man that jump started your program and rescued it from the 15 year stretch of mediocrity it was mired in.

I think it's stipulated in his contract that he has to remain the highest paid coach. Michigan really screwed the rest of the NCAA with that offer to Harbaugh.

With that said, I hope Harbaugh fails for fleecing Michigan and setting a new ridiculous standard for pay. If it were a private institution, that would be one thing, but it's state funded and booster funded.

Exactly. They should be paying his arse 50 mil a year honestly. Before Saban, the football team was shite and the university hasalways been shite anyway. Saban is about all they have really.

Actually just looked up the terms of the lil fellers contract. He has to be paid more than the average pay of the 3 highest paid coaches in the nation, including himself. So the harbaugh contract will get him another raise most likely.

Bama would owe him over 23 million if they fire him apparently too.

Those fricking bastards know he is about the only thing the "university" has going for it.

The last I read about it, the rumor that Michigan offered 8 million a year turned out to be false. I seriously doubt they pay him that much.

Saban does deserve to be the highest paid college football coach, so if Harbaugh did get offered that much I hope Bama would give Saban a raise and think they should.

You have to be the worst Auburn poster on this site.

Like Alabama would ever fire the best college football coach in America, get real.

If I'm not mistaken it's pretty much incentive based. I assume his new deal called for making the playoff and another for winning it so yeah, there would definately be more money. Not a larger base salary but his incentives are pretty lucrative.
And Miami83 is so mad. Not being partial but I'd take Bama over living in Lee COunty, much less Auburn any day of the week month or year. Not much going for that school either AND you lost to Bama this year. It has to suck

Good luck with that pipedream. Harbaugh will probably turn out to be a similar hire to the Alabama/Bryant one. Great coach/organizer...young enough to be there several decades...and being at a school with a great football tradition. Perfect recipe for tremendous success.
Oh yeah, he'll make the school 10 times the money that they'll pay him...look at what Saban has done at Alabama.

I bet he won't get Harbaugh money and panic will ensue with the Bama Rant.

A lot of big name coaches have the "National Title" clause in their contract that says if they win it all, they are guaranteed to be the highest paid coach in America by at least $1.

Sexton had this for Saban at LSU and for his other clients. Not sure if they still do this though.

All he has to do is ask. I heard a rumor that he was buying a Mercedes dealership in Birmingham so maybe he needs a few more Million.

Wishful thinking.

15 years prior to Saban arriving, Alabama was going 11-1, finishing 2nd in the SEC, 5th in the nation, and one season away from winning another national championship.

Alabama was mediocre for a decade prior to Saban's arrival and still won an outright SEC title during that timespan.

I agree with both of you.

By BAMA standards, we were actually in a 25 year stretch of mediocrity, with 92-94 being the lone exception of "great years."

Some "good" years sprinkled in along the way--Even Shula had a 10 win season. But we ceded conference domination to UF and LSU, had historic losing streaks to both AU and TN, and had a few losing seasons, even one in the 80's.

Saban has earned every penny and then some for bringing BAMA out of that quagmire!
