I mean I don't think Richt is the best coach. He drives me fricking nuts. If I had it my way we'd have fired him in 2010 and then bought us a fancy HC. But if we ditch Richt now and keep McGarity only to have our cheap ways keep kicking out arse then what's the point? I want something to come of this.

If it's true.

Could be his way of getting rid of somebody that's popular with fans and some of the higher ups. You don't just up and fire the guy because the blow back could cost you your job...you make him want to leave. Then you call your buddy at Miami and let him know you'll release CMR without any contractual issues (if there are any).

Maybe in McG's opinion getting Richt out of there IS in the best interest of UGA football. That's not exactly a stretch....

I don't agree with this methodology but it's corporate/political maneuvering 101.

If it gets us a kick arse HC and we start building a god damn IPF and pay this new coaches assistants top dollar then I am all for it.

Exactly, I would really hate to get rid of Richt with McGarity making the next hire, and I'm a guy who wouldn't mind at all seeing Richt go his own way. I just know that McGarity wouldn't make a blockbuster hire unless Pruitt went and kicked his door in and threatened him with his giant swinging schlong that we so often see in that wonderful gif.

Bottom line, if he is trying to push Richt out by not being competitive accross the board with assistant and support staff salaries, then he is doing a good job.

If not wanting to shell out top tier $$$ is the plan, then it really does not matter what happens or who is the coach...We are going to fall behind in this arms race...

Every AD wants their legacy hires and facility improvements. Its how theyre judged

Just like presidents with wars and supreme court appointments

Throw the Athletic Board in the mix as well. Its a political animal as well with the Pres, and a mix of appointments, professors, student athletes.

And maybe that's where this all lies: too many groups wanting too many different things and the result is a resistance to spend (and risk hurting one of those groups' feelings) which puts off two of the most vocal groups (the football program and the fans). As a result, the AD and Board are put off because of unwanted pressure and blowback. So, rather than cave to the demands of football and the fans, they instead attempt to snuff out that which is causing the riff in the status quo. Obviously, this causes problems for us and football but it seemingly appeases everyone else (until they realize that pissed off fans and a poor football team at an SEC school hurts all groups in some way).

alabama pays their assistants $5.3M
LSU $5.5M
Clemson $ 4.4
SCe $3.33 and that takes into account that they do not pay an OC
Auburn was at $4.4 but It went up when they swapped out Johnson for Muschamp

UT is at $3.2M
UF was at $3.3

UGA is at $3.32

The above teams are ones we recruit against

we were not keeping Bobo any longer than it took him to get a good offer - this BS about "matching" CSU is ridiculous

Bobo will likely be our next HC, at least if he does well in CO

and he should, their flagship program is a dumpster fire

Bobo now runs the top program in the MWC (outside of maybe Boise)

and the cupboard is far from bare - I think he will do well

We pulled CJP from FSU, we just dramatically improved the S & C program and offense is the least of our worries

I think this is all histrionics

Seriously - calm down boys...

The best professor I ever had, Mark Laplante, was not retained by the school in 2013. His class was by far the most challenging class I had the pleasure of taking while at UGA, but it was also the class where I learned the most. The amount of time and energy that this dude put in to an intro level finance class was more than any of my other professors combined.

It is complete and utter bullshite that the university refused to do everything in there power to retain an academic professor of his caliber. I can honestly say that those who are in charge don't know their arse from a hole in the ground. What is truly fricking pathetic is the fact that the administration praises itself on improving academic standards but when it comes time to show their commitment to improving these standards they waddle around in their top hats and do their best Scrooge McDuck impression.

If Richt were to walk I would strongly consider rooting for a new team. Not in a bandwagon fashion. Just a team that is commited to football. I don't give a flying fk about academics. I could give a fk less about stupid suspensions and what not. i just want to root for a team that takes winning seriously. If I ever feel like that is compromised at UGA I will look into other teams. I refuse to buy gear and support a team that isn't committed to winning. For now, I still feel like UGA wants to win but if Richt were to walk or if they don't do everything in their power to retain Pruitt then frick this team.

Without a doubt the hardest class I have ever taken. But he was a great teacher. And I learned a lot. Should have taken Pope so I wouldn't have stressed a few years off of my life. I accidentally ripped my hair out on one of those exams

I'll be angry but I am a Georgia fan. What you described is 100% bandwagon. A true fan goes down with the ship broham.

Yeah man those exams were no joke, shite was like the SAT on steroids just a complete and utter mind frick.
The best part about the exams was the PowerPoint at the end that just had pictures of kittens and puppies, Laplante was the ultimate troll.

I have followed this team so far down the rabbit hole that it would actually take years off my life to turncoat and backtrack futily toward the light. May as well just ride out this particular acid tab, through the good trips and the bad.

ETA: Now, that doesn't mean I'm going to keep sending in a check to a bunch of fat cats that are mismanaging my donations...

I grew up a Georgia fan. If I start looking at other teams it would be someone like Marshall....Not some big time easy win team. I have no interest in jumping into a team that is guaranteed wins.

But if this administration doesn't care about football. I can't contribute my time or money into it.
