I can't imagine Richt wouldn't. As I said earlier, I think McGarity is an arse but I think he is only the personification of what the school admin wants. So he has the school backing him. But Richt has literally everyone else. shite hits the fans then everyone is going down or Richt wins.

That's what I would think. Whatever the case, if this rumor is in any way true, Richt needs to go loud to gather support. I'd much rather have a hot war in the AD than a cold one.

We have had nothing but cold wars that have continued to mire the program in mediocrity. Absolutely. Rip the bandaid off. Use Gurley, the IPF, and Bobo as a lightning rod.

Let Georgia show us if they are going to walk the walk or if the program is here to generate money. And then let the fans and boosters realize their money is going to nothing.

McGarity could possibly win this argument if the other sports we have were doing well. They aren't. No way IMO does McGarity survive this if he ends up pushing Richt out. Fans would be livid.

only reason I'm putting any credence to this "rumor" is the way Pruit called out the admin about the IPF and Richt seemed to grinningly brush the questions away...then when McGarity said "what controversy" during that interview he gave. otherwise I have seen nothing indicating this is nothing more than a difference of opinions between factions at BM.

Well there is that, the rumors popping out, the addressing of said rumors by the media (usually they'd ignore it) and because we actually lost Richt's baby to CSU

My respect for Richt will be infinitely increased if he goes at them.

Honestly, I think Richt could make a public statement basically calling out the university for not providing sufficient support to win a NC and our admins would just have to suck it up and go. I understand their optimal return on investment strategy. It has worked so far but I sincerely believe that if they would invest enough to keep top coaches, UGA could win a NC which would more than cover the cost of the investment in increased revenue from donations, UGA gear, etc.

the Canes need richt in the worst way. and he'd do extremely well there IMO

that said, no way im buying this crap about "starving him out" thats pedantic message board bullshite. there's entirely too much oversight that goes into these issues within the program

Also completely agree with you. Except, idk, I think there is some validity to all of this. This is just all discussion for IF. Obviously something is up but none of us know the actual degree. More likely than not these issues will fade and we will keep on keeping on AKA keep failing to live up to the hype.

And I really think Richt could kill it in the ACC and that Miami would do anything to get him. I am with ya.

I am all about helping academics and all but, yea, you want that kind of cash to throw at the school? Build up your football program more and youll get that and more. There was a great article about how Alabama and Auburn both have improved dramatically in terms of academic donations, applications, and funds to build the school up following national championships.

Georgia just doesn't seem to give a shite.

There is no leadership in Athens.

IMO, the President, Jere Morehead, got the job because he is the exact opposite of Adams. Very low key and not controversial. He heads the Athletic Board by virtue of his position.

McGarity is the proverbial good ole boy. Athens born, UGA schooled, previously worked for Dooley. Supposedly learned at the feet of Foley at Florida, but it doesn't look like he learned a lot, again IMO.

That's why I was excited about Greg. He learned from Foley. But he instead fell right into his role of being a puppet. If he aint a puppet then he is a grade A count.

Makes ya wish we had Bama's BOR. Sure, they shite all over UAB and make football related decision in non football related matters but god damn that would make life better.

Alabama has 3 assistants who made more than Bobo.
All of Bamas staff are in the top 100 other than Burton Burns.
UGA had 2 in the top 100 and the next one was 149

we do not support Richt with competitve numbers for staff. The numbers do not lie...

If anything McG is no longer content with CMRs "body of work" as he likes to say and their relationship is simply worse for wear. And just because a few of the resident dickheads here have had a change of heart about CMR nothing I see on other social media outlets tell me that a large portion of fans have. I'd say probably 70% of the diehard dawgs I know irl and am related to would welcome change to some degree or another. and thats a shitload of people in itself

Calling the people dissatisfied with the state of the program "fringe luntics" etc doesnt work anymore. If making splash hires and firings bought head coaches automatic 3+ yrs amnesty every time nobodyd ever go anywhere

Im personally not privvy to what the in-house expectations that have been set for Richt are in terms of having the ADs confidence moving forward

I'm just saying we've underachieved by many standards with the current regime given the amount of talent and opportunities richt has had in recent memory. Its not hard to conceive of them taking steps in a different direction. not keeping key staff is acting to the overall detriment of the program itself. Not just one mans career

What the frick is ADGM's motive if that reddit post is true? Dude may be a pencil pusher but he's not some ego-maniacal douche hell bent on completely undoing everything UGA football has built over the past 14 years under Richt. What possible reason could he have for "starving out" the football program? All to hire Mullen? You serious?

UGA profs are not paid competively either

Is there something to that?

What this comes down to is a round peg trying to fit into a square hole: the football program runs the Athletic side of things and wants to operate as a football program (with money and huge staffs and new facilities and shite). Meanwhile, someone or some group (the AD, the President, the BOR, whoever I haven't figured it out and probably never will) rejects the idea of football being king of campus a la Bama and Auburn. It's no secret that there has been a struggle between athletics and academics on UGA's campus for years (most notably with the Jan Kemp scandal). Quite frankly, the University needs to figure out what it wants to be and kick out all of those that don't fit in with that philosophy for better or for worse.

Only thing I got was that McGarity was tired of Richt bitching about needing more money and facilities and Richt was forcing his hand. Not that we know if that is true at all
