Per Tampa Bay Times Twitter Feed:

quote:

Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel is exploring a graduate transfer next season, and Duke is one of the schools he is considering, the News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C., reported Saturday. Driskel has sent a release to the Blue Devils, allowing them to contact him, the newspaper said.

I would seriously laugh if he went there and ended up being just mediocre.

Tyler Murphy ended up being decent
Jacoby Brissett ended up being good

If Driskel left and ended up just being competent it would drive UF fans insane

That would be a smart transfer for him. Cut knows quarterbacks.

Wait. He still has eligibility? I feel as though he has been screwing Florida for years with bad decisions.

Didn't want to take the (noble) Jarrett Lee path and ride the pines as a lesser QB started ahead of him.

That could potentially make 3 QBs that left florida to become better than the current Gator starter

No, not really. I hope he is successful no matter where he goes.

Because Brantley and Driskell feel like the same person it seems like Driskell has been around forever

-Both white
-Both highly recruited
-Both Sucked
-Both hyped year after year

If he were to transfer who would that leave as the probable starter for next year? When Driskel wasn't injured he was actually pretty good.

Since I get the paper delivered every morning, let me add this tidbit: in 2012 as a true soph Driskel led the Gators to a 11-1 regular season record, threw for 1,646 yds, 63.7 % compl rate with 12 TDs and only 5 picks.

He got injured early in the 2013 season and was redshirted. Never was the same and never ran the same. He had talent...but multiple OCs and poor wr play and sketchy protection at times led to part of his undoing along with fan bashing. He played horrible in 2014 most of the time.

Hopefully he succeeds if he transfers out and Duke is in dire need of experienced qb with Boone leaving.

Win win situation. Either Cutcliffe improves him to a late rounder or he enters the workforce with a grad degree from Duke.

Cutcliffe is a QB guru AND he will get a free Duke education.

Win-win for Jeff, IMO.
