I'm not really seeing that NOLA is up on the top of the crime lists in the US either. Just in the south, seeing Memphis and Atlanta and Miami and Little Rock and even Baton Rouge with worse numbers. Birmingham Al was on higher on all the lists I saw.
Maybe, based on the specifics of his comments, Amari is just boring and that smell is his upper lip.

New Orleans is consistently voted among the top 2-3 dirtiest cities in America, and was Time magazine's dirtiest city in America in 2011 and 2012. LINK / New Orleans has also had the highest murder rate of any American city with a population over 100k every year but one since 2000. In 2009 it's crime rate was 17th IN THE WORLD. The last time New Orleans wasnt in the top 10 in violent crimes among major cities in America was 1811...the year before Louisiana joined the union. Everything I said is a fact.
Did you even read the article you quoted?
quote:
Most surprisingly, many voters ranked some of America’s hottest tourist destinations as the dirtiest. But a spot on the “dirty” list does not mean voters do not love them. For instance, cities such as Memphis, Las Vegas, and Miami, that were high up on the dirty-scale, ranked highly for having great bars, live music, and people-watching. If we can learn anything from this poll, it is that cleanliness is not everything. And now, the list:
1. New Orleans
2. Philadelphia
3. Los Angeles
4. Memphis
5. New York City
6. Baltimore
7. Las Vegas
8. Miami
9. Atlanta
10. Houston

t's comical the inferiority complex New Orleans residents have with their own city. They knows its a shitty tourist town so they double down on their defense of the city any time someone even hints the possibility that it is not the greatest city in America.
You live in fricking Birmingham

Fwiw, my neighborhood has never had more than about 3" of water in the streets including Katrina. If everyone was a pussy and only lived in places where shite doesn't occasionally happen it'd be a pretty boring world to live in.

If someone said Alabama has a lot of tornadoes, especially recently.. I'd agree with them. Especially the line leading through Phil Campbell and up towards the Athens, Alabama / Huntsville area.

Little Rock isn't even close to New Orleans in my experience. Not that Little Rock doesn't have a crime problem, but it's not close to being as bad as New Orleans.

How is this thread STILL going on?

Because New Orlenians can't handle even a small honest critique of their city.
New Orleans is I my opinion the greatest city in the south, and it has made tremendous strides in the last 5 years especially, but their are plenty of reasons not to like it, including the "stank" along Bourbon. It's a great tourist destination. But I think the posters in this thread are deluding themselves if they think most of them come for the "culture". 90% come to get wasted in the Quarter, eat lucky dogs, stagger into Harrahs, and then find a drug dealer or whore. FACT!!
And I'm ok with that. Gives the city "personality"

I love hanging out in NO... Me and my gf are planning on a weekend getaway just to party it up a little down there, but Coop hit the nail on the head. New Orleans is by far the worst smelling city, I've ever visited.

Better than living in cookie cutter homes in the concrete pad of Houston. More paved land than grass
