He's right.

New Orleans is truly one of three or four great cities. But it's not for everyone to live in or even visit. The city is truly booming economically, houses are selling like crazy, and young professionals are flocking to the city. Will they stay? I think so, but another natural disaster could change things. But New Orleans has truly rebounded from Katrina, and like someone posted earlier is experiencing a renaissance.
Does it smell in parts or even most of the city? Yes. But the smell is most noticeable in the quarter. It might not be the most ideal place to raise a family for some, mainly because it is expensive, but if you want to live in a city with great parks, some great museums, and one of the most interesting histories of any city
in the USA, then maybe it is.
I have even heard my in-laws from just outside Lafayette (great city by the way) say that New Orleans was not "real" Louisiana and they are horrified that their daughter lives here and their grandson is being raised here.
So yeah, it's not for everyone. Their is much more to the city than the French Quarter. But I do find it funny that people from here denounce tourist when many businesses here depend on them. And it's funny when they look down on tourist coming for the Sugar Bowl will spend all their time in the quarter. These people want to party and do things that they probably can't do n their cities, or if they can it's looked down on.
We almost put our house up for sale to move to the Mississippi coast, but New Orleans just has things to offer that you can't get anywhere else outside 2 or 3 other cities.
Now I also could write a post of how bad it sucks in many ways,

I've said that for 15 years.

Actually, I think Amari seems like an intelligent guy and he seems pretty classy to me. Bourbon Street does stink, but it's not all New Orleans has to offer. However, Amari does seem to have the personality of a rock, so I'm not surprised that New Orleans is not for him. But since it seems to host everything and is now Hollywood South, most people do really love to visit New Orleans.

You could probably say this about most of the players, but not him. Or Drake.

Meh, 98% of people visiting NO only go to the Riverwalk, the casinos, or Bourbon St. You don't have to go very far out of the city to be in some of the finest wetlands in the world! But yea, downtown is busy, amd filthy. When you have 24 hr partys, your gonna have piss on the streets!

frick that thug infested, nuclear, third world wasteland of a city that only Duck Dynasty looking coonasses would defend.
No, a plate full of unhealthy glob that looks like vomit isn't "good food". Only you dumb fricks would eat that nasty shite.
No, I'd rather not take pride in a city where you're constantly having to look over your shoulder in fear for your life.
No, I'd rather not visit a city that makes you feel unkempt and dirty just by rolling down the window in your vehicle.
No, I'd rather steer clear of a city that smells AND LOOKS like arse and sewage.
No, I don't want anything to do with the "Somalia of the south".
And mardi gras? It's laughable to take pride in claiming a festival overflowing with drunken rednecks and disease infested trailer trash. No thanks...
Civilized people hate that shithole and for valid reasons... you half brained ruhtards that are defending it should seek professional help.

Yeah, an "I agree with Amari" would have sufficed. The ironic part is that the real Brad Pitt actually lives in New Orleans for part of the year.

I'm a lifelong Bama fan and resident. I'm also a employee for last 23 years IN Louisiana. I have to agree about that smell, but mostly around Bourbon St.
You could not pay me enough money to live around it.
That said, they have some of the greatest people and the
greatest FOOD to ever be cooked. I've not visited Bourbon St. since the mid 80's and that will not change. If however you're looking for good folks and great food,New Orleans ranks up there,IMO

To each their own I suppose. I've stated here many times I love Nola, and yes, the Quarter. I stay in the Quarter when I vacation there. It's not for every one, but if you like to party, or love history, you can find plenty of both in Nola.
Frenchmen St is a great place to find some good local jazz bands. Yeah, and damn straight I hit up Bourbon St and have a damn good time every time.

Jesus fricking christ, it's Bourbon Street. That's what all tourists do there. You've got an entire holiday that revolves around people "drinking as much as they can and acting foolish". Seriously, for an LSU fan you yap like you've never even been there.

Coming from an LSU fan, that is pure gold. Drink on my man.

This is true but there is no better place to go find drunk loose women. I'm in!! Leave New Orleans alone!!!

It's the a-hole of America, all the shite that drains into creeks and streams that feed the great Mississippi flows there.

Well, I'm sitting on my porch drinking coffee and I smell my wife's garden. But he is right I have like 1000 things our family can do today. None of it involves drinking. Maybe check out a city before you comment on it, but then again he's a 20 year old who plays football at Alabama, I probably shouldn't be insulted what this societal genius has to say. Although if you want to live somewhere that has absolutely nothing to do then I guess Alabama is stimulating.
