I suspect it's because somebody started doing it 2 years ago and now virtually nobody even remembers that 'Bert' isn't even his real name.
About a month ago, after the Hogs beat LSU and OM, there were numerous threads started by Arkansas fans. Even most of them apparently forgot his real name. It's a classic example of habituation. They were so beat down before that they just accepted his name was really 'Bert' and went with it.
