Thanks to the mods for allowing me to post on this board

If Jason is as explosive as NM running the ball and has a better arm, we should give Jason a shot to win the QB job. It is looking like our two best receivers are gone to the draft and we have a full stable of running backs at our disposal, so maybe Gus should try to run an offense that got us to the NC game in 2013.

Just a thought, war damn

I don't think Jason Smith is good enough for us to run that offense the way Marshall did.

Marshall was severely underrated

Marshallss career at AU is probably top 3 and at worst 4 for a QB. Hard to imagine we don't have a step back without JJ being all SEC caliber

Yeah, it's hard to have an arm as good as Nick Marshall's. Dude can flick a ball 50-60 yards on the run and I saw him throw a 72 yard bomb in junior college that hit the wide receiver in stride. His arm talent is top notch in terms of strength.

No doubt NM has better arm strength but I think Jason has better accuracy. He drops in several passes on a dime in his highlight film. JJ should start next fall but I think Jason Smith could turn some heads at QB.

Have you seen his junior college tape (Jason Smith)?

I ask because I haven't been able to find any yet. I would like to watch.

Your best shot of seeing his his film is to watch week by week highlight films of the whole team. I watched three or four of them and Smith threw pretty well.

You don't even have to wait. Just watch his HS film. He puts the ball exactly where it's supposed to be every time.

Anyways I think he was just saying Smith is more accurate than Marshall

Probably so. Nick for all his ability was an average passer at best. Shifty as hell though with the ball in his hands. Wouldnt be surprised to see him get a shot on offense in the NFL

And yes, he may be more accurate than Marshall, but he doesn't have elite accuracy or anything, just above average at best. He lacks arm strength though, from seeing his highlights along with my HS playing him multiple times while I was there. He puts everything he possibly can into deep passes and still only throws it maybe 50 yards at best.

He has speed and quickness similar to Nick, and actually was extremely fluid in his route running at the AL/MS game even though he'd been a QB of the prior 2 years. He can be a difference-maker at WR
