Mike Bobo appreciation thread

Let's condense our praise for Mike into one thread. I love Bobo and everything he's done for this football program. Here's a video from the 2012 Tennessee game with him in the booth. It's completely evident that the dude is passionate as frick and loves what he does.

Here's mike taking us to the first overtime game in SEC history
LINK
here's mike beating tech for the 7th time in a row, be aware the quality is shitty as frick and lags hardcore
LINK
Mike set a bowl record that stands today by completing his first 19 passes in a row in a beatdown of a ron dayne-led wisconsin in the outback bowl
Mike also set a few UGA records the past few years for our offense. I don't have the stats in front of me but I believe that 2012 was the most prolific offense in UGA history, and that 2014 was the most PPG in the league.
In the infamous 1993 thanksgiving day brawl with georgia tech, the benches cleared for the fight. There was a skinny, scrawny little wimp on our team that was in the fracas that ran back to our sideline to get away from everything. But wait...as it turns out, he was simply grabbing his helmet from the bench, only to run BACK out onto the field to rejoin the fight. That skinny little guy was a redshirt freshman QB named Mike Bobo.
Bobo is truly underrated, as evidenced by all the mouth breathers in sanford who call for his head every time we don't achieve a first down. Let's use this thread to remember and appreciate one of the finest dawgs in recent memory.

I love it. On one hand you get the professional side of him (like calling out Rome being open before we practically even get to the LOS, then rome being open), then you get the UGA fanboy like all of us where he just goes fricking nuts when we do something good.
I doubt we see someone that truly and genuinely loves Georgia like Bobo in a while.

I miss him.
Just remember all those times he tried to run carlton thomas up the middle on 3rd and long.
"Maybe it will work this time."
No it won't, Bobo. No it fricking won't.

Yes, I distinctly remember those times. Those were dark times. But that was about a 2-3 year stretch.
He also called the tech game in 06 where we came back to win at the end. He also called the VT game that year when we were down 21 points and brought us back to win. And set 100+ year old school records as a coordinator. And never lost to tech as a player. And beat florida as a player snapping a 7 game win streak. Oh, and never lost to tech.
Anyone with a rational brain would realize that Bobo is a top 3 OC we've ever had in our history. Criticizing him for one small period is simply stupid.

That first video made me want to run through a wall for that guy. That is the kind of guy you want in the booth. He will be missed. Thanks for sharing WG.

Best of luck to Mike Bobo, a DGD.

He's a DGD. Will definitely miss him, even though he's closer in proximity to me now than when he was in GA. Will be cheering for CSU out here for his sake.

2014: 41.7 ppg (1st in SEC) w/o our best offensive player for half the season.
2013: 36.7 ppg (5th in SEC) w/o our starting QB for 2 1/2 games, top 2 RBs for a combined 12 games, 2 of top 3 WRs for a combined 14 games.
2012: 37.8 ppg (3rd in SEC)
He may not have started out that great and he can occasionally make mistakes, but his last 3 seasons were phenomenal from an overall standpoint and he had improved tremendously to become a top 5 OC in the nation. Definitely a DGD.

That booth video is freaking awesome! I would love to be up there with the coaches hearing what they see in a game. Thanks for sharing

While I agree that Mike has earned his pay check on occasion I wouldn't choose to lionize him in such a fashion.
It's not like he cured cancer, won a victory on a battlefield, or even invented/developed a new offensive scheme all of which other UGA graduates have done during his run.
It's not surprising you and gator are having a dilemma, a psychological disconnect of sorts where the school and program are evolving past what it was from your era. Embrace the fact that you are now old, get a CSU hat and pull your pants up to your navel like a good old man.

* In his eight seasons as Georgia’s offensive coordinator, Bobo’s offenses averaged more than 30 points per game seven times (averaging 28 in 2009).
It’s a good thing we had Martinez & Grantham there to hold things together while the offense struggled...
