for me i love the style of play we bring to the field. when working well, its a very ball controlling offense that tires out the defense over the course of the game. if we could have any type of passing game for the sake of making the defense second guess certain formations it would be ideal for me. unfortunately we havent gotten that out of our qb's and as a result its been live and die with the run. i may second guess some play calls at certain times but thats with any coach you'll ever have.

so what about you? do you like the type of offense your team puts forth?

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan. Do I think, given a decent O-Line, it can be successful? Absolutely.

Conversely, I'm a big fan of nickel with 4 down linemen being our base D.

Yes when Chaney doesn't call a double reverse inside the 5 yard line

No, We are running the wrong type of offense for the QBs we have. We should be lined up in the shotgun most of the time say about 3/4s of the time and we could run out of that. We need to model our o more off of bama's offense. I like being able to smash people but we are running the wrong offense with the wrong qb.

When we actually run it more than 5 times a game and throw vertically. Not when we refuse to run and throw it horizontally.

I love our O but, I think we are a little too finesse this year. I would love for us to be able to line up and run it down your throat. Similar to the way we beat UGA in the SECCG.

I like the consept behind the offense, but not the offense. I love that we are built around running the ball with some of the most talented RBs in the country. I love wearing down the other team, and winning TOP, I love avoiding turnovers. I love making the game 100x easier for your defense by slowing the game down.... But I hate the 1WR formations, I hate that we NEVER use the TEs. At LSU we have some of the best athletes in the country, so why not spread the defense out and work in open space. The concept can still apply. Run the ball every down if you want, but when its spread out you only block 7 as opposed to 9 or 10. I have never understood why teams don't run a power/conservative tempo offense out of spread formations.. Imagine what LF could do with more space to work.

exactly and we did this vs wisconsin in the second half. I don't know why les and cam refuse to do smart things. It also drives me nuts that connor neighbors gets passes thrown his way. it is a waste of a down doing that when we could get the ball to a play maker.

I may be one of the few LSU people to say yes, but I do like our O. Didn't have the QB or WR's to run it correctly this year but I'm hoping to see improvement next year.
Put Jennings or Harris (from this year, not what you think they can become) in aTm, Auburn, Bama, MSU, Ole Miss offense and I still don't think either would have had a good year. A good game or two? Sure.
Look at aTm's 2 young QB's. Their first starts were unbelievable but were not sustained. Some young QB's have the ability to go from day 1, some need time to develop. I don't think it is even remotely time to start thinking of a different scheme.

Jennings will never be good in our system. He cant throw the ball into the ocean. This o will continue to be horrible until we either put him in shotgun and run 65 percent of the time out of shotgun and give him easy throws and deep throws or until we get a qb that is made to play under center. Harris and switching to using more shotgun and running out of it like auburn does is probably the easiest fix with this team. We could run power plays out of shotgun. Les and cam just seem to believe that going shotgun means we air it out 50 times a game with timing routes and dangerous passes.

I've never understood why LSU continues to recruit dual threat qb's.

I like pushing the ball down the defenses throat but with our ol this year we could not. Lane Kiffin masked this probrlem and really showed out with maximizing what we could do in the passing game. He is much better than the oc at LSU.

Yea im not sure what Les is doing or if he really has a long term plan recruiting wise. IMO LSU is at the level to where we can take any type of qb and then we could tweak the system we run to play to their strength. If we were like ole miss or state then id say we need to recruit system players at most positions but we should be able to get guys that fit into any system. then we just plug in a qb. If we want pro style and since we have a pro style oc then we should probably get a pro style qb instead of dual threat. We did see some spread stuff vs wisky and then in the last game of the year vs A&m. Some rumors that we were working spread all the way up to the start of the season and then les went to michigan 1970 offense.

So either way don't have a real good plan in recruiting a qb or we have plans to switch styles but les got cold feet.

I still think the best thing for us is a hybrid system. I don't want to commit long term to pro or spread. Id like to be able to exploit match up problems and have flexibility on how we run our o.
