Direct quote from Rivals interview of Odom:

"Was going to get Auburn offer if Muschamp didn't take it. Had interest from A&M and South Carolina. Had offers from Florida, Mississippi State, North Carolina and Texas Tech. Believe at least a couple of those would have paid him more than the Mizzou job will."

Seriously, what in the world would make someone say that? No ties to UF, McElwain or Florida in general at all that I saw.

This is like a recruiting thread.

There will be far less pressure at mizzou.

I don't doubt Florida and A&M MIGHT pay more. We can certainly afford to pay our assistants and Pinkel goes to bat for his staff at contract time, so any assertion he would have passed up on Mizzou, his alma mater and former employer for "a few dollars more" is complete speculation of no substance.

The whole post is speculation IMO.

Doubt it... Maybe if Muschamp and 4 or 5 other guys didn't take it.

I've heard all these throughout the process of hiring Odom so there is substance to them.

Sure, there could be one that was a little "out on a limb" but Florida was being mentioned very heavy as a destination for Odom.

Never saw Odoms name on any UF site during the very brief search. Perhaps I missed it. Never heard of him prior to today.

I believe you. No UF connections at all though. Never saw him mentioned. It is what it is.

We don't get much info on Memphis in these parts. That should not be surprising.

Sumlin is either going to get a splash hire (not likely) or a wtf hire (almost certain). While Odom makes sense, that's not how we do business. We try to money whip the best out there into submission and when that doesn't work, settle for our 50th choice.

Looks like a pretty good hire for Mizzou.

Odom's defense allowed 19.5 PPG, had 30 sacks, 87 TFL and 17 interceptions in 2014.

Looks like Missouri is returning 7 starters (I assume Ray is going pro?) on defense next season and the only young positions will be DE with two rSO taking over for Golden and Ray. Every other position will (probably) be upperclassmen.
