So, here's my take on the whole Malik and Mack situation.

It was a plot from the beginning to show a&m as being weak. Everything the sips have done has been focused on weakening a&m or the perception of a&m. This is another attempt.
Malik was never coming to a&m. His Poteet high buddy Mcneal would never see the field on our roster and they agreed to play together in college. It had nothing to do with who the DC was going to be. No matter who was hired, Malik would have bailed and made the DC hire look weak. All in an effort to undermine a&m's strength in recruiting.
KS played it right and there are still good players avaable.

I agree Malik wasn't really coming.
But losing Mack is another story.
And A&M STILL doesn't have a DC.

I kinda agree with you on Malik.
Here we have this kid whose:
1. Parents are sips, like to the core
2. Has said all summer he doesn't care about the conference he plays in
3. Is on defense, the thing Charlie should get a little recruiting boost for
4. Doesn't like that our DC position is vacant
5. Is caught in a locked in path for EE that makes it hard for him to wait on our hire.
You tell me all that back in July and I would have said no way we have a shot at the kid. Hell just from his tweets and quotes back in July I thought the kid was a sip for sure, and we had only half that list back then. The real letdown was the fact that we thought we had a shot at him, when really by all logic we shouldn't have. The way he defended Charlie's purge always seemed like an answer way back when.
The real issue isn't Malik, it never was. Mack isn't even an issue, he has looked like a shaky commit for a while. He was just waiting for one more bad thing to burst, that is why I accepted him leaving when I knew we wouldn't get Boom. Neither of these two guys is worth keeping Snyder.
Oh well, it could be worse. What USC has been going through makes me feel better for sure.

Mack was simply evidence that the plot was somewhat effective.

The sips own texas media. They can sway the ship with every negative. The good news for us is that we have outside media paying attention. At best, the sips can compete on a level playing field...AT BEST. Until they upgrage to a better conference with better national coverage, the best they can hope for is even. That is still the reality.

I got a ban for a bit and then got a new job that has been kicking my hind quarters. Christmas slowdown and DC search brought me back I didn't even know I was allow to post again.

At what point does A&M do something about the fact that the teasips own the state media? This is getting fricking old.

We started that process a year ago:

I was in school back when they killed that major and watched some really talented guys (like now write for the New York Times level talented) leave to go elsewhere (including Texas).
It will take a long time to undo the damage though. Realistically the internet will kill local news before we get a chance to stuff that ballot box at all.
