Just read where some in nyc are calling for all cruisers to have bullet proof glass. This seems like something that should have already happened, at least in high crime areas and big cities that can afford it.

For the officers on the board, is there any reason this isn't a normal addition to police cruisers to keep you safe?

TL;DR = I'm just trying to make up with rebelgator.

Well, for one, what if I need to send a round through the windshield?

I think what you're trying to say is you have a business idea for one way bullet proof glass that you're wanting to take onto Shark Tank with me.

Lmao, you know bullets easily penetrate metal right? Almost every standard pistol round can penetrate at least one door. Rifles just go through cars like a hot knife in butter. (Best place to hide is behind front axle).

People still will shoot at what they see. BP glass would certainly help.

Kinda silly that cruisers don't have bulletproof windshields already.

Isn't there a company that makes a film that you can put on glass that is a cheap way to bulletproof?

That would be a waste of money. 5.56 green tips will zip right thru bullet resistant glass. And helmets and most body armor.

Nasty little bullet. Bullet Info

Also what happens when they have to get out of the car?

What big cities do you think can afford to install bullet proof glass in they're police cars?

Most big cities are damn near broke.

It would be great to do this, but adding bullet proof glass requires more than just changing out the glass. You're adding new doors and extra support for the windshield/back window.

There's your first issue. That ain't gonna happen with budgets how they are.

Second, I know LAPD has ballistic plates in the car doors. Better than nothing.
