LSU offered him a one year extension earlier this year. Sounds like Chavis used aTm to get a longer extension.

If you're basing this off the ESPN Radio guys here locally in Baton Rouge, you've misremembered the report they gave.

About a half an hour ago, the local radio duo for ESPN Radio in Baton Rouge-who are both fairly well connected to LSU and several members of multiple coaching staffs for the Tigers-reported that Chavis has had a new contract for 3 years at 4 million dollars annually on his desk for some time (not sure how long).

He has not signed it yet as per what was reported.

He had an escalating contract that he's currently in the final year of. This year paid him the most at $1.3 per year. This new deal would pay him on average of more than this past, when he was one of the Top 3 highest paid coordinators in CFB.

Only Kirby Smart and Bud Foster made more this year. This new deal would push him just past if not right up next to Smart and Foster.

out of all the coaches on the lsu staff including the mental midget with the white hat, chavis has the most leverage in terms of negotiating contracts as of right now.

not to mention, if he holds out we could see another A&M like melt from players decommiting

I was driving down the road listening to the report and Kleinpeter is basing this linked story off of that radio report.

Kleinpeter got the story wrong. He did not hear it correctly. Chavis has NOT signed it per what was said on the radio. It's on his desk. But that does not mean he's agreed to it.

It'll be up on their website soon as part of their podcast. The show is over at 9 am and it'll be up sometime afterwards and you can listen to it yourself.

Again, this link is based off a radio report and the link is incorrect. The radio report stated he had a new offer on his desk but that it wasn't signed.

In my heart of hearts, this is a giant troll job.

That being said, if it happens he goes to the Aggies, troll face a plenty.

Whatever happens, Muschamp at AU and whomever is hired at TAMU are going to be really, really important hires for the Leach/Mumme/HUNH coaching tree types in CFB. Like it or lump it, there's a theory out there that says those offenses aren't friendly to a defense. I believe there's validity to it.

If either of those guys can field a competent defense running a truly high-octane HUNH/Air-Raid Spread Tempo offense on the other side of the ball, it will be vital to guys like Sumlin/Holgo et al that have been handcuffed by defenses that are reminiscent of the French Defense of Paris circa 1939-1940...

John Chavis is the only thing keeping Les Miles afloat right now.

it's a valid point.

It's interesting you cited the defense of Paris in it's failure; I've often used the Maginot Line as an allegory to the lack of defense by my Aggies.

He really wants to be Co-DC at Auburn.
