Big hire? Most people can't name one S&C coach. I like the hire personally.

Just out of curiosity, what hire would have wowed you?

Well for one the way that Richt and company were talking, not to mention the job posting stating certain qualifications, I expected a guy that had better credentials and resume than this. They posted that they were looking for a guy that had at least a masters and 5 years of experience as head strength coach, if I'm recalling that correctly. This guy has a business degree and was a director of s&c at a high school. That being said he has also shadowed under one of the best in the business for the last 6 years so I'm anxious to see what he can do.

Someone who spent at least 5 years in Federal prison for creating a steroid cocktail that is untraceable in NCAA mandated drug tests and whose assistants were all female gymnasts who only wear yoga pants and sports bras.

I don't know it seems like a choice Wofford or Jacksonville State would have made more so than a National power (sic).

Nebraska hit a home run with their new man, but then they buy into the kinesiology theory. UGA equestrian has better horse trainers than UGA fottball does...

Jim Kramer or Larry Varnado,Jr would have been top choices I would place over Hocke.

At least the program is changing wheels we have that.

More info on Hocke

quote:

“They’ve (UGA) hired a guy named Mark Hocke from Alabama. Mark is the Assistant Strength Coach at Alabama," Roussel said. "I called a guy at Alabama and I said, ‘Tell me about Hocke.’ They said, ‘Scott, he is amazing. Saban walks recruits to the locker room. Hocke takes it from there. We have recruits in the Alabama football locker room and Hocke gives this speech that we want to go watch because it gets you so fired up you want to run through a wall to play for this guy.’ He will do great things with Georgia football is what guys at Alabama just told me.”

Like I said just bc I'm underwhelmed doesn't mean shite. The guy has worked with the best for 6 years and I'm curious to see what he's about.
