Saw this on Shaggybevo:
The Allen QB's father is not a fan of Sumlin, as a man or coach. He is a fan of Watson, who he's gotten to quite know well.
I heard all this a couple of weeks ago but as with Daylon Mack, there was no point in discussing Murray/Texas until after the 19th. It's after the 19th.
It's a sensitive issue that I don't want to divulge too much. I'd prefer word doesn't get to Gentry.
The most telling thing so far is Kevin Murray reached out to Malik to help Kyler see the light. Malik and Kyler are *supposed* to get together today to talk.
It's really hard for me to see Murray in Austin, but that doesn't mean the opportunity isn't there. Texas has been working the Malik/Kyler/Mack angle with fervor. 2/3's of that appear to be a lock to me.
I think the next Recruiting Notebook should be current and former Aggie commits because Damarkus Lodge could be the key to landing Murray.
One major roadblock, the commitment of Arizona WR Christian Kirk to A&M last week. Complicating things further, Kirk is an early enrollee. Murray doesnz't want to leave him stuck out. The obvious play is to re-offer Kirk and bid John Burt farewell but I think Kirk would flip to UCLA if Murray decommits. Works for me.
From some dude named Eric Nahlin, a Shorthorn reporter, take with salt.

Personally, I see him taking MLB money. If he commits to baseball, then he will be a top 20 pick, maybe even higher if he has a good senior season.
If the Kid is good at Baseball too, why did he commit to A&M in the first place. I thought SEC had rules against Kids playing two sports or something along those lines. He would be giving up baseball to play QB for a team he might start for until his senior year. A&M actually sounds like a career killer for this kid.
Kyler would be better off at Oregon.

I'm not sure if Murray decommitting is good long term for LSU. Chavis has shown he can scheme circles around Sumlin's O. If Sumlin loses a legacy like Murray, he likely is a dead man walking. Question is would ATM replace Sumlin with a real threat to LSU?

At some level yes. He has been sold as the future of the program all through the high school playoffs. Losing him would get more important people to notice than yesterday's decommitment.

I think you are safe.

If Kevin Murray, Jackie Sherrill's QB at A&M, allows his son to go to Texas, where QBs go to die and their max offensive output in any one season is 48 points to Iowa State, then Sumlin would be fired within a week.

Apparently Shaun Watson has been in touch with his dad the past month pretty hard core

They have actually been in contact for months now...Kevin Murray has a QB academy and one of his clients is a kid
who's accepted a gray shirt offer from Texas, Matthew Merrick. Murray brought the kid to one of our camps during the
summer and apparently has gotten along fairly well with Shawn Watson.
BTW, Justin McMillan is another of his clients.

That's interesting info there
Seems like Texas is getting into the sweepstakes?

The donors don't know all that.
All they would see is "Sumlin lost Kevin Murray's son to Texas"

I live in allen and have season tickets and have seen murray play for 3 years now
hes a great athlete and from what ive heard hes 90% solid on A&M.
apparently he has made lots of strides towards baseball and has that hard to find raw 5 tool ability. dude isn't that big but led the dFW metroplex in HRs this year.
one scout said he could go top 10 if he gets a little bigger and more power. hard to pass up guaranteed money in baseball but he comes from money so I don't know how that will play
id say hes 70/30 going to end up at A&M but don't discount baseball. id put less than a 10% chance of him playing football somewhere else

I hope he pulls the Zach Lee on him.
Enrolls after being drafted high, didnt get initial money he wanted, then get an offer he cant resist and leaves school and sign pro
