The his dad hates Sumlin is the rumor everyone is throwing around yet I've never seen it reported once. I'm not sure there is any truth to it. I think his dad is supporting his son and letting make a decision. tu is promising him a starting role a freshman. I'm sure Murray is as confident as they come, but there is always some uncertainty that you might get beat out. tu is trying to remove it.

Keep reading that on message boards... where are you hearing this?
You do realize that message boards are a poor source of "facts".
Listen.. we know you desperately want this to be true. It shows.

Manziel was ~2 inches taller at just a hair under 6-feet (5'11 6/8ths), but more importantly it is blatantly obvious that the Browns made a mistake drafting him and that Manziel's first round draft standing was created by "hype". The reality of the situation is that there is one guy in the NFL starting at Murray's height: Russell Wilson. Does he have great ability as a QB? Yes, but the professional odds are stacked against him. Meanwhile he can pocket ~$2 million without ever accomplishing anything as a baseball player, and his realistic upside in baseball is as a potential star player. It is one thing when you're the ~6'4 prototype like Jameis Winston and you turn down baseball; but when you're a ~5'10 QB and you've got legitimate star upside in another sport you've got to look at your future first and foremost.

Kyler will go pro in baseball, and be a 1st rd pick. The biggest thing about UT is he can still play 3 years of football there and be fine. In all likelihood he would get 0 or 1 (if Allen goes pro) at A&M before he turned professional in baseball.

If he's a first round pick in baseball he will be playing zero years of college football. There is no chance in the world a MLB team would let a first round player spend his fall playing football.

How many qb's will A&M have if Murray flips?

The problem is that the new MLB Draft bonus spending regulations limit teams from just outright "buying" players away...and here's the further issue: if a team feels that he's committed to playing football, they likely won't want to assume the risk of blowing a first round pick on a guy that may not sign (and therefore losing the monetary value assigned to the pick). The new rules have put an emphasis on making sure your top picks sign, because if they don't you more or less deplete your entire draft class because the money can't be shifted elsewhere; its gone from your total allocated pool.
Back in 2012 Anthony Alford was a first round MLB talent, and likely would have been selected in the first round, but he told every team that he was set on playing football at USM. As a result he fell to the 3rd round and the Blue Jays (who had a ton of picks that year) took a huge gamble and drafted him anyway. They ended up paying him $700K to sign a two-sport deal that allowed him to play college football while barely playing any Pro baseball, but he would have gotten much more money had he just committed to baseball outright. He ended up wasting his time for a few years by flopping at USM and then walking on at Ole Miss before he ultimately committed to baseball full time a few months ago. The end result? He lost significant signing bonus money out of HS, and furthermore lost ~3 years of developmental time in baseball. Now he's in sink-or-swim mode when alternatively he could have been one of the most hyped prospects in the game due to his premium athleticism.
Now Murray is clearly a better football player than Alford was; but the kid needs to seriously evaluate his future options. I don't know if he has NFL aspirations (I'd assume he does), if so he needs to understand how stacked the cards are against him. I dont think anyone really knows how serious he is about baseball yet, but we'll find out this spring.

Locksley committed to Texas? That's news to me. Although I know he's a prime candidate for a flip, since FSU has 3 QBs committed right now

No he hasn't. I can't figure out where that's coming from either.

Claims to not care about a topic then gives the exact number of threads on said topic on another message board in the very next sentence, hmmm.....

Starting as a true freshman + that pathetic offensive line + that pathetic group of WR + that pathetic offensive coordinator + first game at Notre Dame = Garrett Gilbert

Solid till MLB throws $2mil at h
imo, it'll be closer to 3 mil. the kid is too short to play in the nfl and should go the baseball route. if it doesn't work out, pocket the bonus and go back to college football. happens lots.

Probably going to be in the low 1-1.5mill.
