With what is coming back next year on Defense and the recruits that are set to come in and contribute; it truly is amazing the difference that Pruitt has made on that side of the ball. In 1 year it has gone from a rather large question mark, to a championship caliber collection of talent.

There's some wood to chop before I'd go that far. Certainly making progress though

Jenkins' father Ronald Jenkins explained his son's decision to UGASports. "His heart is there," Jenkins said. "What it came down to it, he was just so invested in wanting to be in Athens. It has his heart. He was leaning towards coming back the whole time but we wanted him to make the best decision with all the factors in front of him." Apparently, Jordan couldn't wait that long. Despite not having yet received his draft projection from the NFL, the Jenkins family discussed the options and Jordan decided he wanted to return.

That's a DAMN GOOD DAWG right there!

I see your point. Still need some more athletes in the secondary, but front 7 is looking really good.

I feel OK about safety. Need some more corners. Also need to get Roquan Smith. ILB talent on campus is still bad. Hopefully Ganus and Amaechi can help immediately. DL will be young, but there's no quick fix for that.

I think we're a recruiting class away from getting back to where we need to be talent-wise.

You don't feel good about Kimbrough and Carter?

Not really. UGA needs better athletes at ILB in this scheme.

I disagree about Kimbrough and Carter, I actually think both are athletic enough to really excel under Pruitt. I think they'll be better at playing sideline to sideline than Herrera and Wilson were.

I think Carter can, but not sure about Kimbrough. I just don't think he's very fast or fluid in space. We'll see I guess, but I don't think the staff would be bringing in a one-year transfer and a JUCO if they were confident in what's coming back.

Another year of Jenkins/Floyd/LoCarter is going to help tremendously.

Really disagree about Kimbrough. He has had some fantastic tackles on special teams. I actually think he takes one of the ILB spots as a starter.

D Line will be interesting to watch come Spring

You have to remember that kickoff coverage really doesn't translate all that well to defense though, especially the position Kimbrough plays on special teams. He just runs down and lays the wood, but doesn't have to change direction really. I hope he can play the ILB position well, but he still needs to prove a lot.

I agree about Kimbrough and Carter. I don't see them having the lateral movement quickness from sideline to sideline. Good downhill runners though.

Very high on TK. He hits guys square, not from an angle behind or parallel to the ball carrier...

I think they are recruiting so many guys at ILB is because of the non existent depth there. If either Tim or Reggie go down, it spells major trouble for that unit. I think DBD sticks on defense and will be a top rotation guy this season...

Disagree completely,if you excel at KO coverage you're always gotta have your head on a swivel and learn to break down on the retuner in the open field. More often than not your still gonna need good vision and lateral movement when in pursuit.

The worry with Kimbrough and Carter isn't about whether they can breakdown and tackle a running back. The concern is whether they're good enough covering in space, which they're asked to do a lot vs. modern offenses. Most of Kimbrough's plays on special teams weren't really happening in space. They were mostly him filling his lane.

Eta: another example is Reuben Foster. He's really good in kick coverage, but got worked when he was out their in base D because he struggles in coverage.

Are you talking pass coverage? If so, that's the very last of my
worries. Our losses this year were because we couldn't stop the
run vs SC,UF and GT and Wilson and Hererra were God awful
in those games...especially SC and GT.

Fast guys can still stop the run. Slow guys can't stop the pass. You should be concerned with both because our LBs aren't particularly good at either.

The USCe game is actually a great example. That big space in the middle of the field between the LBs and the safeties that they exploited time and time again? We want to get rid of that.

The reason the middle of the field was wide open
was because we were getting gashed in the
running game which in turn opened up their
play action,

Once again our biggest liability on defense this
wasn't our inability of the LB's to cover the pass
Anyway, how do you know Kimbrough and Carter
won't excel at it?Because of your perception of
their special teams play?
