Yeah I don't think Clark is high on our totem pole either from what I've read, so the medium interest seems mutual. Paul just said that we did interview Coach O in Nola for the job last night.

Never did at USC. Some new talk that he did at OM -- which isn't exactly inspiring considering that d went from average to terrible in the 3 years under him. That was also pre-spread prevalence.
Just doesn't compare resume-wise with Randy Shannon IMO. Not for a DC position.

Anybody got a clue, or rumor, or whatever? This hire needs to happen ASAP. Since LSU is losing Chavis, think coach O goes to them but as a position coach not DC.

IMO if we hire Diaz, it's because we chose him over O. We will see, Diaz is also being looked at by LSU, not getting this done weeks ago may not have been a smart decision.

I'd be fine with Diaz coming back, but only if we got O to come in and coach the DL too.
I think Diaz is a good coach, but the whole situation to me with the way he left just doesn't make it appealing to me.

The pay increase to go to Texas was staggering. You cannot fault any one for wanting to take that step.
Diaz is older, wiser, and knows more about defense than he did when we hired him.

He left b/c he went from making 250k to 625k per year and a higher profile school. I wouldn't be overly excited with the hire but wouldn't be totally against it.
I think I'd be more comfortable with O being a Dline coach than a DC.
I really wish we could have landed Shannon as our DC.

He's one of their top recruiters too. It's only a matter of time before he gets a D1 DC job but I'd be surprised if it was State.
