Teams take on the temperament of their coaches. Save a few bright spots when the team is firing on all cylinders, Richt himself rarely displays killer instinct.

Now see...I HAVE to disagree with you here. One of the greatest coaches of all time, Tom Landry was not a firey personality. Bobby Bowden was not. People really stretch when they want to pick apart Richts demeanor on the sideline. A firey temrament can backfire as well as motivate. Look at Muschamp for example. Florida played tight and lost sometimes because they were scared of his wrath. I'm not sure where we have overwhelming talent, either. You can point to the number of NFL players we have....but we routinely field recruiting classes around #10...sometimes a little higher and sometimes a little lower. The fact we send so many to the NFL is testament of how the coaching staff develops our players.

I agree we should have won the East this year. We are the best team in the East by a wide margin but couldn't get the job done. No excuses for that.

Maybe. But most had us picked to come in second in the SEC East. Know where we finished?
COULD we have finished higher? Yes. But we met expectations. Meeting expectations is NOT underachieving.

Notice that it took Bowden forever to finally win a title despite sending a pro bowl roster to the draft almost annually. Not saying anything about the sideline demeanor of a coach, but Bowden and Richt are awfully similar in some areas (for obvious reason). I think either sideline demeanor can work, but a coach HAS to be able to get the most out of his team every day. For whatever reason, Richt doesn't do that very well.

Yeah. Honestly, immediately after Gurley was suspended I pretty much gave up on the season. I can't believe we only lost one SEC game without him. All things considered, we did well. You can also quote me earlier as saying we did better than expected. I'm not the one who said we underachieved.

but like Richt said, even in a meaningless game, you must be 100% focused and prepared.

So, he's saying that he had the team honed to too fine a point in 2010? That they were just too focused and prepared?
