The Vanderbilt Melodores...

So I'm flipping channels tonight and run across a kid saying he's part of a group representing Vanderbilt University, so I stop. Realize I'm watching The Sing Off, this a Capella show. And a group called The Melodores is performing. I'm intrigued, and somewhat disturbed.

I've seen Pitch Perfect, and know a Capella is a big thing now. So I started wondering how many other SEC schools have these competitive groups. From an online directory, it seems the SEC is well represented with aca-nerds, some with very clever names: Alabama, Florida (that Sedoctaves), Georgia, Kentucky (the Acoustikats) LSU (Arpeggieaux), Mizzou, South Carolina (Cocktails), Texas A&M and Vandy.

So, how big a thing is this trend anyway? And how does tRant feel about it?
