Is that a plus? Or a minus? …for Saban.

Saban by a mile. Harbaugh doesn't have the hardware to show for it like Nicky does.

Harbaugh was a great college coach, but could never get over the hump.

Saban was one quarter away from playing for the BCS title in 2008 without this huge talent advantage you speak of. He won it in 2009 when "his guys" could be no better than true sophmores.

Harbaugh and it really isn't even close. A competent coach can recruit 4 star and an occasional 5 star to Alabama. Plus Saban does not have to deal with the academic restrictions that Harbaugh did at Stanford. Stanford was a football wasteland until Harbaugh showed up and he turned it around ...big - time. Also, if you are a budding QB, who do you want coaching you, a guy who can get his QB's drafted and then sit on the bench like McElroy and McCarron or a guy that has actually put a QB into the NFL and has produced like Luck .

He's done the same in the pros with Kaepernick. Actually think that if Harbaugh was a coach in the SEC at you would quickly see Saban retire. Saban may know how to get you to the NFL, Harbaugh actually knows how to win in the NFL....

That is a perspective alright. Not a good one, but it is a perspective.

QB is all that matters. It defines a coach.

Why would CJH get so much credit for Luck? He is the son of Olive Luck former NFL QB. He also happens to be a once in a life time combination of talent and QB IQ probably shaped since birth.

Saban is the best coach in college football.

Harbaugh wears Saban pajamas.

GTFO - Whether they were "his guys" or not, those 2008 and 2009 teams had had plenty of talent from the 2006 and 2007 recruiting classes that were top 10. What did Saban do at Michigan State and in the NFL when he didn't have superior talent?

Because Luck was only like the 4th or 5th ranked QB in his recruiting class. Harbaugh was the only coach who noticed the 5 star diamond in the rough, and Harbaugh was the only qb guru who could take such a talent-less individual and turn him into the No. 1 pick.

Harbaugh is younger, but Saban is more of a sure thing. I think I would go Saban.

Im sure we can agree that its not Butch though.

They've ruined Kap trying to turn him into a pocket passer.

Left Toledo LSU, and Michigan State a lot better than when he found them. The same will be said about bama after he leaves
