There doesn't seem to be a gay gene. Rather, homosexuality is likely epigenetic, relating to or arising from nongenetic influences on gene expression.
I subscribe to the epigenetic hypothesis. Gays are produced in the womb and most definitely do not choose to be homosexual. The only people who can choose to be straight or gay are bisexuals.

I find it funny that everyone will readily accept that a man (or a woman) can have any number of preferences in the characteristics of a mate, with near infinite combinations, based on properties such as hair color, eye color, body shape, skin color, height, weight, odor, taste, smell, sound, etc. Furthermore, we accept that those preferences can and do change over time.
But a man choosing to prefer the property of a penis or a woman choosing to prefer a vagina MUST be genetic?
Laughable.

They actually don't. A sexual orientation is determined for each of us during our developmental years based on the proclivities laid out by our gene expressions. We may interact sexually/romantically/emotionally with many variants outside our preference but, ultimately, we seek that person who best fits our imprint.

This is technically correct. Homosexual people who are alive today and have no heterosexual sex will die out because they don't reproduce, but homosexuality in humans will still exist as long as humans exist thanks to this.....
