Really don't think they'll end up at Nebraska. Wherever Coach Kaz goes is where will give Mizzou the biggest threat.

Hmmm...

- Odom declines or isn't offered DC.
- Coach Kul is promoted to DC.
- Coach Kaz is hired as new DL coach.

BTW reading between the lines of Dave Matter's chat, he knows who the DC is going to be. And although unspoken it feels like a heavy lean to Odom.

Still no word from Nubs HC Mike Riley on who his DL coach will be. He was quoted at the Holiday Bowl as saying many of his remaining hires are still playing. When asked if college or pro, he said "yes". Expects to fill in next 7-10 days.

He just hired his OC from the Giants.

And his recruiting coordinator from Nevada

No word on Kaczenski. He seems to be sitting tight.

Sounds like Kaczenski is gone from reading on the Nebraska board. Apparently, he attended the player meeting that Bo had where he went off on the University. Apparently also go into a pissing match with another coach during the bowl game. Basically has pissed off the majority of Lincoln. My other thought was that if they were going to retain a guy from the prior staff, why wait? Wouldn't they have done that already? If Riley expects to fill the remaining spots in the next week or so, that tells me he has someone else in mind as DL coach but that coach is still playing in a bowl game or possibly NFL playoffs.

I have a problem with all this. Mizzou and coach Kul is not some consolation prize, especially to the Nubs. Kul does his best work with guys who want to be here and quietly go about their business of being a part of the best DL in the country. Do these 2 even fit that mode? Seems like a lot of hype for undersized, 3 star DT's.

I think it would be best to just relax.

We're talking about a couple 18yr old twins who's uncle played for the Nubs, probably decked out only in Big Red growing up and committed early to Nebraska.

Until just a few weeks ago, these kids probably didn't know or took little interest in Mizzou's staff.

I think its a path that was set in stone and is crumbling.

I hear what you're saying venom, and the same thought has gone through my head. I've pretty much taken a position of will take them if they come and won't lose any sleep if they don't. I get their family ties to Nebraska and all of that so I cut them a bit of slack on being a consolation prize, but like I said, not going to lose any sleep if we end up with Beckner and Jacobs.

While I don't question that the twins were fans too, I have little doubt that a parent was responsible for creating that path to. That parent was quick to the draw when the twins made their comments about no longer going to Nebraska. Lots of different pressures exerted on these young men, including by their own family apparently.

I would put our odds at 10%.

"It was Lee who watched the Holiday Bowl game with the Davis twins -- Khalil and Carlos -- in the Kansas City area. Lee and his parents had been visiting family in Saint Louis for Christmas. So they decided to meet up with the Husker defensive tackle commits and their parents and watch Nebraska play.

Missouri has remained hot after the Davis brothers, but Lee left the evening feeling confident the duo will join him as teammates in Lincoln. “I think they’re pretty much on board,” he said."

Lee is four-star defensive back Eric Lee from Colorado.

I don't disagree w/ your sentiment, but let's face it, we are who we are, this staff will never be a great recruiting staff, if you can't close on at least half of the in state talent after winning an SEC div 2 years in a row, you aren't going to, not with the same personnel you have in place. We'll hear the same excuses "facilities don't compare", "too many area pro sports teams", etc, etc, but we are who we are.

We do a couple of things well, and what Kul(and staff) do with his position is one of them, but we don't know how to sell squat, and it's a dam shame. Any 3 star DL recruit that gets an offer from MU should be an immediate "I'm in", the fact that we can't sell even them shows us how bad we are at the recruiting game.

A Clockwork Orange?

Alex: No time for the old in-out, love, I've just come to read the meter.

exactly, it's like a surrealistic movie. and I think the point is pretty clear, it doesn't matter if these two kids ever amount to anything as college players.
