No, a-hole. It is unprecedented. I hope you don't speak for the South Carolina fan base.

You seem unnecessiarly combative. Did your dad get fired after 3 awesome years of cooking fries at McDonalds and then one bad year of burning them or something?

It's funny to me that people think SC should content to watch its program crumble to mediocrity out of gratefulness to the coach that gave them 3 good years.

This is just bullshite. You had ZERO good years before the OBC arrived. Are you twelve? Must be, or you would remember that pre-Spurrier South Carolina teams never achieved mediocrity.

All the more reason to do everything in our power to preserve the recent run of success we've had, dummy. That's why people are flipping out: we were slowly building something and now progress isn't happening. Leaning back and saying "well we used to suck, might as well just go back to that" isn't a winning strategy. Be smarter.

And we had 0 bowl wins before Brad Scott. I guess we should've kept him around forever because he did something unprecedented.

I am not angry at all. This has no effect on my team. Stunned that Spurrier gets such little respect from your fanbase after changing the game for you in positive fashion. Hope that this is just a couple of malcontents with time on their hands and is not representative of your fan base.

He didn't see the last couple of seasons under Holtz, apparently.

I know, it is funny.

How dare we as a fanbase be concerned about the future when we see a coach who is clearly near the end.

Right, even if that's the plan don't say it publicly.

Schools that have long tenured coaches really need a public HCIW for recruiting.

No, we should watch all Spurrier's work crumble apart out of gratitude that he did something great here for three years.

Any program would be concerned. But you and others have gone further in this thread than expressing concern. The three or four Gamecock fans here seem to advocate Spurrier stepping down immediately. Did I misinterpret those posts agreeing with Phat Phil?

It just seems ungrateful. That's all.

OBC will die on a golf course and damn it he will die a happy man. I am beyond pissed he didn't coach at state, second favorite coach of all time.

Spurrier should've been a VFL. I always like wondering what might have been if he had went to Tennessee instead of Florida 50 years ago.

The point is, if he's going to step down at some point in the near future, he either needs to do it now, or publicly announce some type of succession plan. Neither have been done, and as a result, we've watched 20% of what would have been the best recruiting class in our history evaporate into thin air with who knows how many more defections to come.

And who got you in position to have a great recruiting class?
