Alabama is going to be an NIT 1 or 2 seed after doing just short of enough to make the big dance. Grant will get another shot. I will cry. I will melt badly enough to get banned from this site.

We already missed our 3 chances for a good OOC win. NIT lock now. Might as well look forward to the next time we get a slimmer of tournament hope.

Assuming we have another so-so type year like we've had in the past under Grant, I don't see him being back. Either he'll be fired or he'll try to get out ahead of the firing squad and take another job.

Not sure what will happen, but Battle should be fired if Grant comes back after another sub=par year. Keeping Grant in that situation would basically be a declaration that Alabama doesn't care about basketball.

I thought last season should've been a make-the-turney-or-get-fired season considering what we had returning from the previous year. We saw how that turned out. Hell, winning 17 games this year could probably be spun as progress by Battle allowing him to bring Grant back for one or two more years.

He should've been fired, but I think that buyout made Battle give him another year.

I like Grant as a person and I really wanted him to succeed. My hope is either he turns it around somehow or he decides to pull a Trent Johnson and head elsewhere after the end of the season.

Wimp was great, he always had good teams and the fans responded. The Plaid Palace.

Not to derail the thread, but:
I wonder if Craig Sager ever interviewed Wimp on TV. Sets must have exploded all over the southeast.

I am honesty ok with that. I would rather have a top 20 program but I know that we are realistically not gonna get there anytime soon.

I honestly thought that's what he was going to do at the end of last year. I mean he's completely lost the fanbase and hasn't been successful so you'd think he'd want a fresh start as much as we all want one.

Well, he also has a big buyout he probably doesn't to ignore. At the same time, he's young and can still have a good career ahead of him so he might not want the reputation that comes along with being fired.

In the end, I don't think Grant is a good fit at UA. Alabama Basketball requires someone with some energy. Someone who can sell the program. Grant isn't that type of person. He could probably be better a coach at a school that has better basketball support.
