I want our next coach to have an assistant whose only responsibility is drawing up inbounding plays. Obviously, such a thing is asking too much of a head coach.

The team's ability to shoot free throws isn't on the coach?

Ouch.

we have low IQ guys on this team. For instance one of their bigs was out guarding a George guy on the 3 point area and was not trying to shoot and our big is up in his face and he dribbles around him and dishes for an easy basket. There were many of those type plays in this game.

All coop had to do was get fouled as the man was up in the air. That was on him. The above part has something to do with coaching. We also had a lot of fouls down low and we are content to swipe at the ball instead of going straight up.

FT shooting being abysmal from our guards is something that may or may not be coaching and spending enough time on. The foul on Levi while a guy was heaving up a 3 point shot is low IQ basketball on Levi. Levi had bout 4 inches on him by going up would have had an impact on the shot that did not go in anyway. GA guy made all 3 FT's. Just little things like this causes a close game to be lost

He can't make them for them. Waffles had a chance to ice it in regulation.

Really hope we can get a good crowd for Grant's last few home games as a Bama coach

why. Big crowds would send the message to the AD that the faithful are ok with losing like we do. One speaks loud with empty seats. UT was forced to make a change in football a few years ago because of half empty stadiums. In football oen loses a lot of review when peeps are not buying hot dogs, drinks etc.

I hope no one shows up to any more games till he's fired.

This is not being facetious in the LEAST bit, I'm genuinely asking. Why has Grant seemingly done a 180 since getting to tuscaloosa? He was a donovan disciple for 10 years (good), then took a school no one had heard of really at the time to an NCAAT win (very good) and was THE hot young coach. Then at bama he's just kinda been blah.

Not piling on here but what has happened? Is he not getting the talent he had at VCU? After this amount of time are teams just figuring out his scheme? What's the deal?

Only poeple who should show up are close kin or roommates.

That would send the AD a message.

From the outside, it seems like he may not be that good of a talent evaluator. He's gotten some highly ranked guys, but you'd never know it watching Alabama the last couple years with all his recruits. He was better early in his tenure. He was only at VCU three seasons and had a team mostly built by Capel.

I may be totally off base, but that's what it looks like to me.

Capel had done well before Grant

He had a couple pros at VCU in Maynor and Sanders, but he hasn't recruited poorly at the 1-3 positions. He's recruited terribly in regards to post players which has hurt us every season since Green left.

Our scheme is to play stall ball, shorten the game, and try to make the plays late to win. That scheme doesn't work when your whole team is anti-clutch and has players that are built to run.

quote:

What's the deal?

He didn't solve his recruiting problem and his ego has gotten in the way of him changing schematically.

Until we get some post players worth a shite we will always be middle of the pack at best considering the half court offense we put on the floor....I don't remember his VCU teams so I'm not sure how they compared but I'm guessing they had some decent post play considering who their coach was

He didn't really have great post play when he was at VCU. He had Eric Maynor scoring 20 points a game. Larry Sanders played during Grant's 2nd and 3rd (final) season at VCU but he was mainly a defensive force until VCUs first year without CAG.

ETA: Larry Sanders as a sophomore average 11 points and 9 rebounds.. A lot better than any Bama players.

Honestly I've pretty much given up and I will settle for keeping Grant if he can at least beat Auburn twice a year.

If you don't think CBP will have AU playing big time BB, pull up a chair and watch.
They will not be a final four team every year but he will be hard to beat after he gets a couple of his recruiting years in at auburn.
