I can understand not wanting to sink a lot of money into baseball, and certainly the other non-revenue sports.

But basketball has the potential to be almost as much of a money-maker as football. You gotta spend money to make money.

Bill Battle took a chance on Grant for another year, and Grant still didn't change. Huge fail on Battle.

If we fire Grant and Pearl goes on to have success at AU, then its on Battle. I say that knowing a lot of people disagree with me because of Pearl's rep.

His biggest crime was lying to the NCAA investigators. What he did to deserve the NCAA's attention would have resulted in a minor slap on the wrist. He had a recruit over at his house for a BBQ 2 or 3 days before he was allowed. Sure he isn't a saint when it comes to his personal life, but we would have been paying for a coach, not a pastor.

If Battle fires Grant, that would be the easy hire for him to make instead of really going after someone hard. I would hope Prohm would be a 5th or 6th option behind an Archie Miller or Ben Howland...guys that have won something before.

with our problems with the NCAA it may have been advised that we not go down the pearl road.

Right and Auburn has been clean as a whistle when it comes to the NCAA. Sorry but this is a dumb argument to me

This time last year Battles' man should have been in touch with CBPs' agent and found out if there was any interest if an opening came about.
CAG should have been allowed to resign. And a short time later CBP should have been hired.
We are a NIT bubble team.

Did you see that win tonight? How can you question the great Anthony Grant after that? Clearly he deserves an extension, IMO. Tonight was the Battle Plan executed to perfection.

If we would have lost tonight, we were talking about the round tables conversation of letting saban coach one game and then letting each of the seniors coach a game. Would have added some fun to a pointless year and probably would have gotten people to show up.

Battle understands that not enough people who matter care about basketball unless we aren't winning in football to justify the hit we would've taken financially for firing him last year.

I say that as someone who thinks Battle was a poor choice as AD, but he's a business man and he made a financial call.

A poor one. A successful program would have made up for that extra money spent on the buyout quickly. Pearl would have electrified Bama basketball.

Grant is making another solid argument that he is a horrible coach tonight.
