Meanwhile, they lose again to UT at home.

So, assuming Grant is fired after this season, who does Alabama go after?

Do we have any former NBA alums who can coach worth a shite?

That's tough. I was so certain Grant was a slam dunk choice that I now doubt my own ability to pick a replacement.

We've had no success with the alum coach (CMG), the young mid-major coach (CAG), or the loyal assistant coach (Hobbs). Maybe its time to hire the retread coach who's looking for that second chance.

There really isn't a name that jumps out. Alabama could probably match anyone in terms of salary but what is the view of the job among certain circles? Would a coach with an ego want to play second-fiddle to Saban? Does Coleman hurt us? I would love for someone to come in who actually had some the ability to change the culture at UA around basketball.

Unfortunately, he will be back. Battle thinks he is doing a wonderful job.

I'd still be fine with going after a mid-major coach who has consistency at his respected program. Grant was only at VCU for 3 years as a HC. Also someone who could sell his program and get students and fans to buy in. Grant did pretty fine at that his 1st 3 years, and Coleman was sold out and rocking every game. Now its completely dead and Grant is not even attempting to market anymore.

I'm dying for someone to change the culture. Honestly, I just want a really competitive respected basketball program. Tired of seeing a stagnant boring lethargic offense.

I still think Grant is back next year

Butif he's not, I say we break the bank, swing for the fences and go for a big name guy. After they all turn us down, I say find a mid major guy who has had his own success, not living off of another guys recruits.
Or
I wouldn't mind seeing a guy like Lennie Acuff. His teams are strong in fundamentals, and every person on the floor can shoot.

Just bring in a guy who gives kids a chance to score. That brings in recruits and crowds.

If we end up as a bubble team again without any embarrassing losses, he'll be back.

If we lose to AU this weekend, you'll see whatever life this program had die. The team will zombie its way towards the end of the year and Grant will be gone.

I really feel awful for wishing the team to drop a few stinkers so we can get new blood, but I don't know what else to think.

Yeah, I might be okay with other losses, but never to Auburn.

If Pearl comes in with an inferior team and beats Grant in Coleman on his first try, then Grant doesn't need to coach another game IMO. The damage would be beyond repair at that point.

Grant couldn't even beat Tony Barbee.

From what I remember, Grant only has 3 losses to Auburn total, and lost to Barbee only twice.
