On Bama's last possession, they were down by one and crossed mid-court with seven seconds left but waited until there was 1.2 seconds left to call a timeout. All we could do is inbound the ball and throw up a prayer. That's Grant. He'll impress the hell out of you right up until he finds a way to lose.

I'm ticked at how we lost that game... there were a few bad no calls in that flurry but it was at Wichita and they aren't gonna give you anything.
Bama fans saying same story are stupid... since when have we played that well as a huge road dog and lost in the final seconds? This is a much better team and they will learn from this. I hate how we lost.. it was disgusting and all we needed was one more basket smh.
Bama will be a top 4 SEC team this year. I don't know if that gets us in the tourney but if we win the games we are supposed to we have a great shot. Winning last night would have certainly had our names on the tongues of many but, we didn't and it's not the end of the world for our chances.
Bama shoots up to 21 in RPI so there's that.

Not true. For most of his career at Bama the team has looked dreadful during most of the game, especially offensively.

I was specifically talking about games like the one last night. He has had a lot of good teams on the ropes over the years only to piss it away at the end but I agree. As a whole, his time at Bama has been meh.

Not since oh, say last year when Bama led Drexel by 2 with possession of the ball with only :17 left in the game and guess what happened? Turned the ball over without getting a shot off and ended up losing the game.
Or maybe the season before when Bama was tied with Cincy on the road with a shot to win or go into OT, only to turn the ball over with :06 left and see Cincy hit a game winner at the buzzer.
I've got no idea of the points spread, but both of those were unranked Bama teams playing ranked opponents at a neutral site or on the road and both ended just like last night's game.

The only thing I had a problem with was when the officials took the ball and gave it to the Shockers when they were on their run. I can only assume it was a ten second violation by Bama but Dick Vitale wouldn't shut the hole in his face long enough to give an explanation. It didn't seem like it had been ten seconds but I guess it was.

It was worse than you described. They actually got lucky in getting the timeout. They sat around fondling themselves until Randolph tried to drive - and proceed to get the ball stripped. He got lucky and managed to both recover the ball and get a TO called before getting tied up (also worth noting is that the 90% free throw shooter missed when it counted too).
The plan for the final possession was clearly just stand around and hope Levi can make a shot or get fouled - and that falls 100% on Grant's shoulders.

May have been a small dog in the Cincy game but we were favored against Drexel...
The one thing this team hasn't done is have a bad loss... THAT is what has killed us over the last few years.. bad losses in December so far we've only lost to teams we were "supposed" to lose to. It sucks but it won't hurt our tourney chances. Our SOS is 15th right now.

You're right. There was no intention of calling a timeout at all.

Yep. Grant went to the well once too often. He was read like a book on that last possession.

If Bama was favored against Drexel, that makes the choke even worse.
Anyhow, they don't have a bad loss yet. There are still four chances before conference play starts. Don't forget that Bama was in a dogfight at home this weekend with a team who has an RPI in the 180s.
If they manage to survive December, I agree the SEC sucks so bad that they've got a good chance to slide in the tourney, but is that really the goal now? Make the tourney only to have a certain early exit?
Bama basketball used to be a perennial Sweet-16 program. Now it is hoping to mimic the success level of a mid-major? That's simply not good enough.

Grant = the Tuberville of basketball type coach in my opinion

If Grant misses the tournament this year, is he canned? Or will Battle send another message out about what a great guy he is?

I only watched the last minute or so.. All I heard was the guy going off about how Wichita plays angry.
Every other word was angry or angrier...

I know I should be happy with playing well on the road at a place like Wichita even with the awful ending, but this is bigger than that. This is just another example of us losing a game on the road that we had in control because our guys lost their minds down the stretch. We have done this 15-20 times the last 4 years with different sets of players. There is only one constant..........
And no, we won't make the NCAA's. You don't make the NCAA's with 3 losses to tournament teams and 0 wins. If we beat UCLA at home we MIGHT have a chance, but otherwise we will be doing the usual Grant 20+ win season that results in a #1 seed in the NIT.
