I wonder if he had something to do with that
I know he did. My point was you don't just annoint somebody the best just because of a record or a trophy.

No. Who is a better QB between Dan Marino and Eli Manning?

No, but he's one of the top 3. He's the lead recruiter for every QB, involved with pretty much every offensive player we recruit, and is the best recruiter in the country in South Georgia.

I've never once criticized his recruiting ability. Go back and read what I quoted and what I responded with.

Our offense averaged 41.7 points this year, Pruitt makes over $200,000 more than Bobo, and Will Muschamp just got freaking paid. If I was Bobo, I would not be pleased at all about being the 40th highest paid asst coach in the country (16th in the SEC) when he is easily a top 10 coach/recruiter.
On top of that you have a guy who just left an SEC OC position for CSU and then got the UF job two years later. I can definitely understand him wanting to leave. I just don't understand why any UGA fan would want him to leave.

We're talking Offensive Coordinators here, not Quarterbacks..........
Eli Manning very obviously has better Offensive Coordinators than Dan Marino did.

Yea but you used his great players that he recruited as a knock against him. Doesn't make sense.

The reason everybody jumped on your comment about his success on the field is because it almost seems like you're suggesting that Bobo doesn't deserve all the credit for his success, because that success is largely attributed to the talent of his players and not his coaching prowess.
I don't think that's a fair assessment of Bobo. It's almost like saying a player doesn't deserve credit on the field for any work they do off the field (viewing tapes, in the weight room, etc.). Success on the field is not a direct result of talent alone. Success on the field is a result of the entire picture, and perhaps the biggest thing going into it is preparation.
Success as a head coach is more about calling plays on Saturday. It's about recruiting, playbooks, practicing, coaching, leading, studying footage, play calling, strategizing, risk-taking. Hell, I could argue that play-calling is a small factor in success as a coach.
Failure to give Bobo credit for his success because his players are always talented is just wrong. He was not spoon-fed talent. He has worked his arse off to bring it in, and even once he does bring it in, he works his arse off to harness that talent and make sure it pays off. Very few coaches are able to succeed from the recruiting trail all the way up to the sideline like it seems Bobo can do.

It's not a knock against him. I'm just saying that Bobo has been very fortunate to coach some of the guys he has had. Some people are quick to name him, "BEST OC AT UGA EVA!!!!" It's easy to put up numbers when you have had the program's most talented QB, best WR, and best RB not named Herschel (and probably the next with Chubb).

and you don't give up on a OC over a couple of bone-headed calls over the course of a season.
There isn't an OC out there that calls the perfect play in every situation. And like crow said, Bobo is a fricking South GA whisperer in recruiting. Can't afford to lose that.

Nowhere did I say that I wanted to give up on anybody or have anybdoy fired (in this thread). Some people just act like Bobo is beyond reproach.

How is that fortune when he helps recruit these players? If anything that increases his worth to the program.

Okay. I mean yeah I wanted to beat his skull in after the USCe game, but is hard to take issue with his body of work.

Gurley and Chubb were both 4 star recruits. Some didn't even have Gurley as a top 5 RB coming in. Think Bobo deserves any credit for turning two 4 star RB's into the best in the nation?

Exactly. Believe it or not, there is some middle ground between "HOLY shite BOB0 IS THE BEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO UGA!!!" and, "HOLY shite FIRE THAT STUPID frickING REDNECK THAT DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO WEAR A CONDOM!!!"

Chubb and Gurley were game ready from day one. I'm not sure how much Bobo or McClendon really had to do with their development, but they certainly have used them well.

I agree
But wouldn't you acknowledge that losing him right now would not be good for the program?
