Yeah... We really can't do any better than a fricking bootleg from the 3 down in Columbia with arguably the deepest stable of RB's in the nation. NO WAY!!!! THERES DEFIANTLY NOT ANY BETTER QUALIFIED OC THAN MIKE frickING BOBO.... Jesus
I fairness....SC was stacking the box and had stopped Gurley cold several times on the drive. I really thought the play was ok, but the execution was poor. He did the same thing against GT near the end that tied the game, remember?

Crap! I shoulda read all the way through. My thoughts exactly.

He talks too much like a slack jawed country hick moron, and if your players and co-workers cant understand you, you can't do your job.
Back in the day before the second invasion of Atlanta by carpet bagging Yankees (1970's) that sort of talk would get your southern citizenship revoked. On top of that it ain't even near the truth. We have been using our southerness for years to gain an advantage over the competition. There is nothing better in the world than to find yourself an adversary who has the idea that you aren't as sharp as they are because you got a little drawl. Men will want to tell you shite that they otherwise wouldn't because they think your dumb and woman want to hear more of that cute accent.
Bobo would have westerners eating out of his hand....you think southerners are backward and easy to get an upper hand on wait until you start dealing with a grown man who plays dress up on a daily basis and wears a cowboy hat and a Buick hubcap for a belt buckle. Texans are the easiest to convince they are the smartest people in the room but it applies to everyone east of the Mississippi.....

Jesus, so your judging Mike Bobo's entire career off one moment?
That's all the Bobo haters have. They have no argument based on body of work so they pick out one play call they didn't like and scream in all caps about it. It's sad.

Not really. Richt has a bit better winning %, don't you think? It's not like Richt or Bobo is Shula. I heard that Richt is top 5 in the country (Active HCs) in winning %. I don't knowe if that is true, but it gives pause.

I agree. We scream about Richt giving preference to a QB that stays at a school and waits his time, yet we want to give an infinitely more important job to someone for the same reason? If/when the HC comes open we should give it to the best person for the job.

Absolutely. Absofrigginlutely. Do I think we'll do that? No. When that times and Richt is retiring, not being fired, then it will be a shite show just like our last 2 DC searches. There will be rumors of OMG, GARY PATTERSON/OMG ART BRILES and the like. People like me, who should know better, will buy into it but then more and more will come out to discredit that until Georgia announces Mike Bobo is the head coach for 2.3M.
Do I like Mike Bobo? Sure. Do I want Georgia to give him a raise. Yea, shite, his recruiting prowess is worth it. Even if he is an a-hole who forgot what the frick the pistol is. It's not that I don't want him to be a head coach because I think he's a bad coach. I have several reasons:
- Just because he is a homegrown OC and has had ol' Mark teaching him the ropes doesn't mean he'll be ready to be HC. Do we REALLY have to sit here and go through the growing pains of him learning on the job like we did for the first few years of him being an OC?
- It'd be a lazy fricking hire. It's so Georgia, though. Georgia could go out and bid for a guy but we all know they can give the keys to Bobo and save some serious mulah. I just hate what that says about us as a program.
- Yea, he is being groomed for it but should that really matter? Should that really be enough? His teacher is Mark Richt. Sure, good coach, will go down in history, grade A human being but it's not like Bobo has been studying for years at the Harvard of football.
- Finally, the biggest change I want is a shake up. Georgia has been complacent forever. The hire of Pruitt has definitely helped things but one day in 15 years when Mark and Kathryn want to go start a drum circle in Namibia I don't know if I want Richt Jr taking over. People are obviously afraid of change. They love what they know and they are comfortable with. Yea, Bobo brings that comfort level where we as fans know who he is, how he will represent us, and the school loves the savings of getting the SAMs Club of HCs. But do we not want some new blood in this program after what will be at least 20 years? Do we not want an outsider to come in and say "Hey, did anyone know that there's shite on the ceiling? And hey, this chair is fricking broken." We don't want a guy to come and improve upon what has been built? Most importantly, do we not want a guy who isn't already battered by how our Athletic Department acts so he is fresh for fighting their curmudgeon ways?
And before I get a litany of WELL WHO DO YOU WANT TO HIRE YA JACKASS, again, I aint asking to let Bobo go or depose the Richtator. What I am saying is when the time comes I want Georgia to at least try. If Bobo is really our top guy then I will deal with it then but I am afraid of the day we just say Richt's done, here's Bobo.

Those were two very different situations, but it's amazing how similarly Bobo called plays in those situations:
USCe:
Clock @ 5:24, 4th Quarter
Score - USCe 38, UGA 35
1st & Goal @ USCe 4: Incomplete Pass, Intentional Grounding Penalty
2nd & Goal @ USCe 14: Gurley run for 3
3rd & Goal @ USCe 11: Incomplete Pass
4th & Goal @ USCe 11: Missed FG, Left 4:24 on Clock
GT:
Don't remember exact time on clock, somewhere around 1:00?
Score - GT 21, UGA 17
1st & Goal @ GT 5: Incomplete Pass
2nd & Goal @ GT 5: Incomplete Pass
3rd & Goal @ GT 5: Chubb for 2 yds
GT Timeout w/ 00:22 on clock
4th & Goal @ GT 3: Complete Pass, TD, Left 00:18 on clock
Passing the ball seems to make more sense in the GT scenario, where there isn't as much time on the clock. Also, Gurley wasn't available against GT. Yeah, Chubb is special, too (and might end up having a better career than Gurley), but I don't understand not saddling up Gurley 3 straight times vs USCe.

I understand what you are saying, but by the same token...he passed on first down against SC, so if it is incomplete you still have a couple of plays to score eitherthrough the air or on he ground. AND, a playaction because SC was stacking the box....execution was horrible. Mason's first pressure situation and he simply made a bad decision. However, Bobo has to be thinkng at WORST we come away with a FG and tie game.

Imagine the melt if Mason had grounded one of those passes against GT.
Also, on Bobo, lifted from channel 11
Give that man a raise, pronto.

Despite getting a raise after that 2012 season, Bobo ranks No. 40 in pay among assistant college coaches. His salary of $578,700 is roughly $273,000 less than that of Georgia defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. Bobo is also one of the best recruiters in the nation and has secured the commitment of the nation's top prospect for 2016, quarterback Jacob Eason. The five-star junior has said repeatedly that the only thing that would change his commitment to Georgia would be if Mark Richt or Bobo were to leave.
Give that man a raise, pronto.

This is great message board material, but we all know Bobo isn't leaving. Especially to take a job half way across the country to a place that he has no connections. In a few months he will probably get a raise to what Pruitt is making and all will be right in the world again. Also, it's just a personal feeling, but I don't think Bobo is as concerned about his salary as some of the fans are.

Hard to say that when he's going to sit down with that school halfway across the country and talk about it.

Here come the negative recruiting. I doubt he gets the job, but I bet players like Eason won't be so confident with his commitment. This stings any which way you look at it
Posted on 12/17/14 at 8:41 am to UGAalum08
Not really. He wants to be head coach one day and this is all part of the process. I do believe that this is the first interview that he has been on and Richt may have even encouraged it. It will be leverage for him to certainly get a raise.
