Who wanted to go to Alabama? But they wouldn't let him sign and he decided to go to Arkansas instead?

SDS's list of top DT's in the SEC for 2014
Top 3 -"Best of the Best"

1. Robert Nkemdiche, OM
2. Chris Jones, MSU.
3. Darius Philon, Arkansas

Congrats. Couldnt take the risk. I think Alabama is doing pretty well on the defensive line.

Is he one we wanted to greyshirt? I don't follow recruiting, but vaguely remember us offering him.

Good for him. His recruitment was difficult.

I remember him. He was the one who was not truthful with the staff about his knee injury, and then declined a greyshirt. He would not have started on our dline yet.

He allowed Arkansas coaches to lie to him and scare him, else he would be playing for his team and for a national title.

He would have gotten a scholarship the very same fall.

while I think this thread is pointless, that is a ignorant statement. who would have started in front of him the 10th best d-linemen...lol
This goes to show that just because your favorite team is good by no means makes you a more knowledgable fan

To be fair he wouldn't have. A'Shawn Robinson plays his spot and is a total monster. Philon would get snaps though as we rotate D-linemen constantly.

Link?

Seriously, that's the first time I've heard anything like that... I seem to remember something more like Bama leading him on and then pulling the rug (more or less) at the last minute.

But regardless, as someone above stated, Bama couldn't afford the risk. Guess Arkansas could afford to take the chance.

One y'all let get away. And we thank you.

Just sayin. He had a great freshman year. This year he has regressed. As an lsu fan im keen on seeing regression.

Philon got screwed by Bama. It was sad to watch him at his announcement day crying because he had just been told Saban pulled his scholly offer. Glad it worked out for him.

He didn't show out this year with the stats, but he played well. Our line would be worse without him.
