Here are the losses and their RPI amongst the Top 11 teams in the league

Kentucky - none

Alabama - Iowa St (N)(23), @ Xavier (51)

Ole Miss - Charleston So (194), TCU (73), WKU (106)

Texas A&M - Dayton (N)(32), @ Baylor (22)

Tennessee - VCU (N)(9), Kansas (N)(2), Marquette (N)(74)

South Carolina - Baylor (22), Charlotte (N)(40), Akron (N)(127)

Arkansas - @ Iowa St (23), @ Clemson (166)

Florida - Miami (36), Georgetown (N)(78), UNC (N)(24), @ Kansas (2)

LSU - Old Dominion (N)(26), Clemson (N)(166)

Vanderbilt - Rutgers (N)(88), Baylor (22)

Georgia - @ Georgia Tech (66), Gonzaga (N)(11), Minnesota (N)(84)

While there are some not great losses in there, the majority of them are either (a) on the road or neutral and (b) to teams that will or are ranked in the Top 125. There have not been many 200+ RPI losses outside of the bottom 2/3 teams. This keeps the leagues RPI up and stops the vicious cycle of playing 100+ RPI teams 2 times a week in conference play.

Now we just gotta win a few more big OOC games.

Idk if better by losing to better teams. Hobestly needed to win those for resumes come tourney time.

Better because in past years half the conference was losing to better teams AND losing to St Peters, Wofford, Winthrop, Lipscomb, etc etc. That stuff tanks RPIs.

Not seeing it. Much better chance for us to take out UCLA at home in a few weeks.

We should just go ahead and pencil Clemson into the SEC tourney championship game against UK.

By the way, how many teams drastically above them does Clemson have to beat to see their RPI rise?

Losing to Winthrop, Gardner-Webb and Rutgers probably didn't help them.

There's definitely been much better scheduling across the board this year. We've got NC State tomorrow and then get some smaller schools before heading into conference play.

Really curious to see how the league ends up this year

A lot less Alabama A&M, Texas Southern type games and more Western Kentucky, Southern Miss, Charlotte types. 100-200 RPI games >>>>> 250-300 RPI games.

Maybe Winthrop is extraordinarily low but I recall Garner Webb being around 30-31 RPI? (or so I recall that they were just above Alabama) and Rutgers is Top100.

Not sure about the others but LSU just gave that game away out in Paradise. Zero for 13 from three and missed 10 or 12 free throws to lose by 3 to a team with half the talent. With 3 new starters It's taken a few games for the Tigers to get cohesive and I think they'd beat up on Clemson pretty good if they could play them again. Hopefully LSU won't lose to any more teams ranked that low and maybe Clemson's RPI will rise a bit.

Tennessee always schedules at this level. In years past we have even scheduled tougher. There is no downside to playing a very tough OOC schedule in college basketball. Past selection committees have said that losses to good teams are valued higher than wins against 300+ teams. Playing any 300+ level teams is absolutely moronic.

Old Dominion (N)(26)

This one just passed me off. Then they follow it up, and beat VCU like a week later. Them dirty bastards.

UF scheduled very tough OOC with the expectation we wouldn't be dealing with so many injuries/suspensions. We definitely took some hits, but we played well shorthanded.
