Well that's even more amazing for LSU considering that they played Oregon and West Virginia.

Edit: Also an extra game against a 10 win Georgia team.

The Jon Crom pre-Kiffin / Nick Stephens team

That team had :
Arian Foster
Gerald Jones
Eric Berry
Robery Ayers
Jacques McClendon
Dan Williams
Denarius Moore
Luke Stocker

Team had some talent.

Some statistics that aren't yards related.

Alabama 2011: 13 ints, 7 fumble recoveries, 30 sacks, 85 tackles for loss

LSU 2011: 18 ints, 12 fumble recoveries, 39 sacks, 106 tackles for loss

Yep - sound stupid to call that LSU D "bend but don't break" but they were more that way than Alabama was. Did it against WVU and Alabama (twice) specifically.

Those 2 defenses had different styles but my gosh they were both good.

Yeah LSU playing against Oregon OOC that year was more than likely the best OOC win for the sec.

Think the Tigers and Tide play themselves a bit of defense? Still think the '11 versions were the two most talented college defenses of this era with '01 Miami, '03 LSU and '09 'Bama not far behind. Not sure that '06 Gator defense ranks statistically but they were awesome.
