the year before Blair Walsh went full retard. 2010?

Nah. 2002. Tra Battle blowing that coverage in the Auburn game disqualifies 2005.

2002. Jon Sullivan was a beast

This year's OL was a pleasant surprise, but I'd go with 2002 for OL.

Not to get overly sentimental about that 02 squad, but at kicker Billy Bennett may have been better in 02 than 03. Game winner vs. Bama and didn't have any terrible games like he did in 03 @ LSU.

Fun topic.

QB- agree
RB- I'd stick with 14 and leave out 07
WR- AJ alone makes 08 noteworthy, but I'd go 02 with Terrence (our 2nd best WR of all time), Reggie, Gibson, Damien Gary, and Michael Johnson
TE- tough call, 05 seems as good as any though. 03 had pope and watson both on the team but 05 pope was more productive.
OL- If not 14, then 02 easily. 02 had 5 senior starters and all were pretty damn good. Jon stinchcomb, alex jackson, ian knight, kevin breedlove, kareem marshall. Also had a freshman MJG.

DT- 02 was stout with jonathan sullivan and kedrick golston
DE- Gotta be somewhere in 02-04 by default. Will thompson was a beast in 02 so I might go then, but 04 works too.
LB- Not sure. 02, 04, and 07 are all good
CB- not sure, but seems like all those early richt teams 01-06 had great corners
S- 2003. Thomas Davis was there and 04, but 03 sean jones was better than 04 greg blue IMO.

K/P- could probably take a pick from just about any year but your answers seems fine.

Tra Battle was a safety though. We had Minter, Jennings, and Oliver as our CBs

I picked it because Greg Blue and Thomas Davis were a year older. Those guys would have been thrown out of half of the games they played with the BS targeting rule these days.

Picked 2003 for Billy Bennett since he still holds the record for most FGs made in a season with 31. He also holds the record for the 2nd most the year before with 26.

Aaron Murray at QB.....Nothing against David Greene or DJ Shockley but neither of them was as good as the Junior Aaron Murray.

Gotcha...I would take Sean Jones over Greg Blue though.

understandable, but that is when we couldn't score in the redzone for shite so his numbers were pretty inflated. I think Blair was a better kicker, with his last year not withstanding.

Yea I was going to say 2012 Murray as well. Was starting off even better last season vs USCe and LSU until the Kneeland Stadium turf monster took out the rest of our WRs

I picked 2004 QB because we had two QBs on that team that won SEC championships.

True. It's not best player it's best "position group", so I would think we'd give the nod to a year that had both Greene/shock on the roster as opposed to just Murray by himself.

Aaron Murray's backup was Hutson Mason. I would take those 2 as a group over David Greene and DJ Shockley any day and twice on Sundays. It's not Aaron Murrays fault the defenses we have are a shell of what we had back in 04/05.

I think Gurley is the 2nd best RB we've ever had..but if his backups were all like brett millican and kyle karemplis, would I take him over a backfield that had knowshon/tbrown/lumpkin/ware? Nah, probably not.

As a "postition group", I don't see any way to not pick a year that had both greene and DJ, even if Murray put up better numbers as an individual.

Better is putting it lightly. He was statistically superior.

The only stat I see here is 2-0 vs. 0-2 in SECCGs.
Yes, AM is the best individual QB UGA has ever had, but Greene left UGA with the most wins by a QB at the time and Shockley won the SEC in his only year starting. The combination of Shockley and Greene in 2004 was the best group of QBs we've had at UGA. Both were proven on the field. 2012 has AM and a redshirted Mason.
