My little girl and I are at Big Cedar Lodge. We went swimming at around 9:30pm. The pool and hot tubs closed at 10:00pm. As we were walking back to our lodge, we saw a shooting star! This was her first shooting star.

And then I remembered that tonight is the Geminids Meteor Shower. We laid in the grass and stared straight up at Orion. In about 30 minutes time we counted 16 shooting stars, most occurring in pairs. We saw 16 in 30 minutes in the middle of a resort with background lighting.

I can't imagine how awesome the show is in the dark country with little to no background lights.

Go outside now. They peak between midnight and sunrise.

If you were then I'd shave my head and stick it inside of you. I saw a video like that when I was 13. Downloaded it off Limewire. Craziest shite I ever saw.

I think I got spoiled by the Leonids at the turn of the century. I stayed up all night watching that storm.. peaked at 3000 an hour.

I just went back outside.

I saw 30 clear meteors in about 20 minutes. I noticed several meteors in my peripheral vision that I did not count. At least 10 uncounted peripheral meteors. Not bad!

I've seen several meteor showers but never a storm. I hope to one day be lucky enough to catch a meteor storm.

Good night, America.
