Rumblings are that he's asked for his release. True? False?

Of course, if true, Mizzou fans seem to think Mizzou would be a logical destination.

Can't remember if he got any playing time this season and with the way Barnett played like a beast, I wouldn't be surprised if he redshirted.

Any information out there?

That's the rumor. His roommate, freshman RB Derrell Scott, is transferring and that was confirmed by Butch the other day.

I highly doubt Butch would grant Hendrix a full release to another SEC East team so he will have to go to JUCO for a year if he wants to go to Mizzou.

He did not redshirt but lack of PT is supposedly the reason he wants to leave.

Thanks. Not sure I'm interested at this point. Might be a talented kid, but then would only have 2 years left. I wish him the best and hope he stays and works his butt off and finds a role there. I just hate transferring.

I just made a more in depth post about this over on the Mizzou board. I'm sure it will go over like a turd in a punch bowl

I hope he stays as well but maybe he just sees himself as Barnett's career backup here and wants to make his mark somewhere else.

I'm sure you're right. Thanks for the insight over there too.

We were after both of them to some extent back in the day. When y'all landed them both, while I thought it was great for UT, I figured one would be upset. I'm always hesitant about transfers who leave because of PT. It's always in the back of my mind that transferring just seems to be the easy way out instead of working hard to earn more time. More than one DE plays in a game. Hell, we rotate 4 and sometimes 5, granted the first two get a majority of the snaps.

I agree. Just say hypothetically, Hendrix transfers to Mizzou as a junior but still doesn't crack the starting lineup. Is he going to cause problems? Drop down to a smaller school where he's playing inferior opponents but he gets 50+ snaps per game to play?

I can understand transferring because of homesickness or a coach leaving but transferring as a true freshman because of lack of PT seems extremely shortsighted IMO.

Exactly. Tyler Gabbert did it with Mizzou. Lost out to James Franklin. Transferred for a day to Louisville before landing at UCF. But by the time he got to UCF, they had Bortles. Think he ended up just quitting and doing nothing. Just rarely works IMO.

I feel like transferring as a QB in certain situations bc someone beat you out is understandable, especially if you are both in the same class but I agree with some other posters, going to a sec school then transferring during your freshman year bc you don't have enough playing time is not only shortsighted but pretty dumb IMO

For every DaRick Rogers there's a Nukese Richardson as far as transfers go.

FTR, we don't know for sure that his only issue is playing time so we can't say for sure
