@wholehogsports: Junior safety Rohan Gaines and senior cornerback Carroll Washington have been suspended for the Texas Bowl.

That means Washington is done as a Hog. Sucks to see a guy go out like that.

Not that I've seen. It's definitely a good thing that Liddell got a lot of playing time this year.

@Dan_Storrs: Bret Bielema just announced that S Rohan Gaines & CB Carrol Washington will be suspended for @TexasBowl. No reason given.

Looks like they were kicked off the team and not just suspended. Bielema said Gaines has a chance to come back in January if he follows their plan.

I saw Gaines tweet about going hard on a date yesterday evening, how they were planning on having a big night.

His chick is on the track team, she's got a really pretty face but the legs and dumpster of a non-athlete big mama. That's what triggered me to look further, I didn't understand how an athlete could have that body type.

Gaines also tweeted something this morning about focusing on the future and setting his own plan, he tweeted a screencap of comments of an older athlete talking about their hometown and how nobody ever gets out of there. I actually looked up his 247 profile to see his other offers, since his hometown is just across the state line from Tallahassee but I didn't remember any of the schools down there offering him. I know the older profiles aren't fully accurate but the only offer they had for him was from us.

I'm going to assume they got too wild last night. I've got buddies on the campus and FPD forces. I'll see if anyone knows what's up.

First reported rumors indicate weed.

I respect what Bielema is doing in running a clean program. That being said, I wonder if the anti-weed thing is going to eventually hurt us. That stuff is so, so prevalent this day and age among high school athletes. Many of them are also coming from high school programs where they're talented enough that the coach will look the other way, so having a coach actually hold them accountable is a culture shock.

All that being said, I've maintained that for the strengths of Bielema's scheme (the line), the clean program and high academic standards does nothing but help you. Kids who play on the line and their parents like that sort of shite: hard work, work ethic, player development, etc..

I think you run into more of the rulebreaking prima donna, above the law types at the skill positions.

I don't think she's a runner. Her twitter says she throws javelins, so it probably helps to have a strong base. I doubt you have to be trim to be good at that event.

This sucks, but I admire the fact that when it comes to team rules and suspensions, Bielema does not frick around. He is creating a culture of accountability, and that is a good thing to see.

I figure that Bielema and the rest of the coaches are up-front about what they expect from their players when they're out recruiting kids to play here. If so, maybe it will keep some kids from coming to Arkansas, but that's probably a good thing if they're just going to get themselves suspended or arrested later on.

Yup

But gaines was a Petrino recruit and Washington was a juco signed by Bert. Even with Bert being up front about what they expect from players here we're still on track to sign one of if not the best recruiting class star wise we've ever had.

Year two in a bowl and having to suspend a senior defensive back for the bowl game?

Can't wait for the Sugar Bowl next year.

There have been plenty of talented players burn it out in college.

The NFL still has testing in place and do no "look the other way".

So do you want the talented guy who wants to blaze it up with Johnny Hopkins and Blake Stone after practice or do you want the talented guy who wants to play in the NFL one day?

Not anymore, you have to get busted 4 times now in the NFL from Marijuana to get suspended from a game.

Gaines could be a Haughton casualty.

Need to show there's not a Sr. on the roster that could block Freshman playing time.

Then the week after NSD Gaines gets re-instated.
