Whoever we get that isn't Boom, Venables, or Foster will have a PERCEPTION of being second fiddle, a step down from our original targets.
This search,, being filled with no solid information from anyone, is getting to protracted so its starting to stink like fish guts.
Whoever takes the job better be a defensive savant because Sumlin needs that to happen. This search, to me, FEELS like strikeout after strikeout and that's no different from the ones in years' past.

Foster is looking less likely, Liucci's updates have taken a turn towards negative town, and venables isn't happening either.
Well. Goddamnit. If this happens I'll melt.

We should have kept Snyder.

Nah. I'll take Barry Odom over Snyder.

Liucci can't say he doesn't have a clue, people pay him because they think he knows things and will clue them in. If he admits he has no idea on something, people go else where.
The problem with these insider info sites is that too often the "insider" doesn't know shite, but they throw up a lot of smoke and give everyone "hints". People interpret the "hints" to whatever they want to hear, and when that doesn't happen they get mad at the fortune teller for giving them "bad info".
Just from reading the rant I've gotten a better idea of who it's actually NOT going to be, what with muschamp having ties to auburn already, and venables enjoying his time in Clemson.
It's going to be a no-name that were all going to hate. There will be a marginal improvement that will more likely be attributed to the current players getting older, and we'll think things are looking up. But Sumlin has never had a good defense, and probably never will. The good DCs look at the level of scholarships and support he gives his defenses and say "nope".
We're going to whiff on the DC. Just accept it and move on. The real question is who is going to be the OC next year, because that is where we should expect some major improvement.

MUCH
We get the correct info, if there is any, around the same time, for free, in a nicer web environment.

Are we expecting a change at that position too?
Only other opening we have is WR coach I thought...

This damn twitter thing is really killing the "insider scoop" business.

You guys are reading too much TA. To anyone who's not checking message boards multiple times a day and lapping up the chicken little BS, this isn't anywhere close to the hyperbole you guys are spitting back out. Nothing has even been decided yet.

Gotta disagree there. The new TexAgs is the best forum I've seen out there. Stew did a hell of a job on it.

For mobile purposes, no. tRant mobile page has the exact same features that the full page has when it comes to quoting or adding images.
I haven't posted on TA in a very long time, but their mobile page looks the same so I'd have to figure nothing has changed on that front either.

Liucci may have a good relationship with Sumlin, but its obvious since day 1 of spring practice 2012 that Sumlin was not leaking anything about the team to anyone.

I wasn't referring to the mobile page.

The new design took them out of 1999 and brought them all the way up to 2006. It's embarrassing that it took them 15 years to update the website design and that is what they went with.

You are welcome to your opinion, but I find this website is easier to use, has more features, and is visually more appealing. And if you stay away from commenting about LSU, the moderation is light years more reasonable. Plus, TexAgs hasn't updated their mobile interface since they came out with one. Most people these days access sites like these through phones or tablets.

quote:What do you mean, "level of scholarships?" 30 of the 56 scholarships in Sumlin's last two classes have been to defensive players. Do offensive players get more money or something?

I think it's just blind unluck that our attrition has been concentrated on the defensive side. Who have we lost in the Sumlin years for non-performance reasons? Polo (DE) to a car accident. Richardson (DE) and Collins (S) to injury. Plus Hilliard (LB) who will be back but basically missed his entire first year of eligibility. Golden (DT) and Claiborne (LB) for the robbery. Miles (S) for stealing. Marshall (DB) and Richmond (LB) and Points (DE) for drugs. That's not even getting into enrollment whiffs like Hoza Scott, and I'm very generously not counting Stansbury's transfer in the above list even though it's pretty obvious he was shown the door.
Meanwhile who have we lost on offense for non-performance reasons? Thomas Johnson (WR) went crazy and Joas Aguilar (OL) got hurt. As far as I know, everyone else we've lost on offense has transferred for lack of PT.
Now I still think Snyder deserved to go because for a lot of guys still playing, the improvements in fundamentals weren't there on film. I'm also not sure that he didn't have something to do with the length of that list on defense (remember, his Marshall team won the inaugural Fulmer Cup).
But I don't see how this is on Sumlin especially. That's just crazy bad luck to have so much attrition concentrated on one side of the ball.

I like the new desktop version a lot. Much better than before.
TA needs a downvote function, IMO, but I love the watch list feature.
The Rant needs PMing.
