Capitol Complex in Tallahassee, lost in thought and minding my own business when I got a shout out from a car stopped at a light at the busy intersection I just crossed.

I looked over and it was an older sedan with an African American lady at the wheel.

She leaned over and shouted out to me (over two lanes of traffic), "Hey! Don't know if anyone has told you today, but you look handsome!", all the while giving me the thumbs up.

Now if I had a nickel for every time that's happened to me I'd have a grand total of one nickel as of yesterday.

I couldn't think of a smart arse comment quick enough, so I just grinned like an idiot, returned the thumbs up, told her thanks and that she just made my day.

And y'know, she did make my day, dang it! :-D

Similar story:

It was quite a few years back, but I was leaving the house to head to school. I had my Chucks on and riding my bike without a helmet because that's what we did back then.

I had only made it about a block when a blue and white suburban pulled up next to me at a stop sign. The driver, a friendly middle-aged lady rolled down the window and said, "have a great day handsome."

I just said, "thanks mom."

There's this hot chick I know. We talk/text every now and then and just cut up and bullshite. Well, she's out of my league. I somehow managed some sexy time with her a few months ago, then she moved away and I haven't seen her since, but we kept in contact. I was texting her after the iron bowl and out of the blue she says "you know, you are really good looking"

That's out of character for her, so I didn't know what to say. I just basically said I don't know about all that but thanks. She says no, you really are...I guess I just haven't really looked at you in a while (creeping my facebook I assume). Anyway, turned a great night into a better one.

Well she just moved back

One night my roommates were out of town and just me at the house. I got super blazed and went to sonic for my usual stoned meal (grilled chicken wrap, cheddar peppers and a blast). I order everything, and the girl brings it out to me and says "I made the blast special, for you". I said thanks and left, then threw it out the window on my way home

When I was a relatively new attorney in Miami, I was at a trendy new bar just off Brickell Avenue with an attorney friend of mine (Notre Dame grad) just chatting outside. We turned to leave and a girl (not bad looking at ALL) literally jumped in front of him to stop him from leaving, asked where he was going, and letting him know she was VERY interested in possibly continuing the drinking, with him, at whatever bar he might be headed to next.

He was polite, mumbled the name of a bar he expected to be at later that night, and she finally let him leave. I've never seen anything like it before or since. And he had totally lied to her. He decided, right then and there, that she was the wrong kind of crazy (and it's best not to stick your peen into crazy).

Anyway, he was a very good looking gentleman, so he had stories. I had just never actually seen it in person like that. But yeah, I pretty much believed all of his stories after that brief little encounter.
