You mean Mark Emmert, Nick's good friend from his time at LSU?

I am not sure what this post is trying to accomplish. Where in that article did it say that anyone was making enemies? Also, who is the U of Bear Bryant? Is that supposed to refer to Bama or UAB?

I love giving bammers as much shite as anyone, but nobody cares about UAB football. I was born and raised less than a hour from their campus and you would have almost never known UAB even existed where I lived

I would propose a UAB/UAT settlement. UAB gets to re-start their football program but must hire Houston Nutt as their new football coach He can tell stories about Bear recruiting him and won't be much of threat. Free UAB and give HDN a job at the same time.

I think there are plenty of people who care, but it is a done deal now.

The Senate Faculty has proposed a vote of no confidence in UAB President Watts and a support of reinstating football. It is pretty much symbolic, but there is a real schism as to what the future of UAB should be.

Can you show me any logical connection between your thread title and the linked article? I am being serious, not taking a shot at you. I missed anything in that article that even remotely leads back to the doorstep of UA relative to the NCAA.

Perhaps you read something I missed?

Is that what you took away from the article?,,,,Emmert said its troubling in the sense that this a trend in college athletics, not that UAB and the BOT made a bad decsion. It also noted Emmert cut programs while he was at Washington.

UAB is only an issue to a handful of people in Birmingham. You know that, don't you? They have literally zero fan support outside of Birmingham

NCAA "troubled" by major, name program, plans swift and certain retribution on some mid-major no-name.

UAB was built into the valuable asset it is today largely due to huge infusions of cash by the University of Alabama system. The campus is about 50 miles from Bryant Denny. The big mistake with UAB football was the move to Division 1. The resources and support to make a D-1 program successful just isn't there with the proximity to Tuscaloosa

Devil's Advocate: Piedmont-Triad area has four major schools within a roughly similar distance from one another.

My DA argument has flaws, given, but still...

the connection is if anybody is troubled and thus interested in the reasons why UAB dropped football, they might want to investigate it.

Can you show me the passage in the article that demonstrates the NCAA is troubled to the point they would look to "investigate" UA for the demise of the UAB football program?

ETA: I would appreciate a direct quote from the from the original article that apparently birthed this thread.

Thanks,
