Dak suing over likeness on shirts
quote:
Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott is suing a Gulfport, Mississippi, printing company for using his name and likeness on T-shirts, according to a report Thursday by WCBI-TV in Columbus. Matthew Print & Apparel Company is advertising two shirts in Mississippi State colors on its website and its Facebook page for $20 each. One reads "Dak Attack 15" (Prescott's uniform number) and the other "Dak Dynasty: That's a Fact, Dak!" with a bearded Bulldog holding up the No. 1 finger. Prescott filed the suit in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court against Christian Matthew, owner of Matthew Printing Company. The suit alleges Matthew did not have Prescott's permission to use Prescott's name or likeness and seeks undisclosed damages. Mississippi State spokesman Sid Salter told WCBI the school is aware of the dispute, but has no direct involvement in the lawsuit. Students are allowed to legally protect their likeness independent of NCAA rules.

How the hell can he afford an attorney?

He will be begging Christian Matthew for a job in 12 months.

He's the best QB in Mississippi do you really think he's paying for an attorney?
Posted on 12/11/14 at 9:04 pm to Hardy_Har
No, I think it needs to be looked into and he's not even the best quarterback on his team.

Are you inferring Dak can't afford an attorney because he's a minority?

You should lead the investigation.

Your average college age student has trouble affording an attorney.

This is probably pro bono work.

Someone's rustled in here

it was a setup. Dak gets call from guy to us his image and sell t-shirts, says "cool, but dat ncaa tho." Dak can't get paid, so guy "gets caught," dak "hires" a lawyer(cousin of t-shirt guy) to negotiate a "settlement." 40% for dak, 50% for t-shirt guy, and 10% for country arse mississippi lawyer. case solved.

The NCAA has a fund for students in situations like this.

MSU says the NCAA has an Opportunity Fund set up for student athletes to retain an attorney for situations such as this.
Sounds like the NCAA will pay for a real Attorney and not some Ole Miss Ambulance Chasing hack.

How did the Honey Badger lawsuit turn out?

In these types of cases the lawyer works for free and then at the end of the day he takes like 50% of the earnings. Don't be stupid
