Who would you want in your own conference?

Ignoring the facts that this conference wouldn't be the strongest imaginable or maximize conference footprint, I'd go with a 12 team conference with the following set-up:
Plains
Colorado
Illinois
Iowa
Iowa State
Nebraska
Wisconsin
Prairie
Arkansas
kansas
Kansas State
Missouri
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Now, tell me why this is terrible. <3

Because I'd imagine outside of Whisky, Oklahoma and Arkansas, every other campus you listed is dull as dirt to go watch a CFB game at.

I'm more interested in knowing why you would pick those teams. Forget about being in a conference with them, I think half of them wouldn't move the needle for me in an OOC game.
To me, playing Colorado would be as meaningful as playing Indiana or Purdue.

We have history with a lot of those teams, we'd be roughly the geographical center of the conference, it would be relatively balanced competitively (lol kansas), and I think there are a lot of commonalities amongst the cultures of those schools.
But yea, not necessarily powerhouses.

Because population in most of those states is decreasing and with it recruits.
