Who else has someone entering the CFB HoF tonight besides SCAR's Sharpe?

Long past due for Sterling Sharpe.
He really should have won the Heisman in '87 over Brown at ND. Sharpe had better numbers (in '85, '86 and '87) and was, by far, the best WR in the country that year even though Brown went 1st and Sharpe went 7th.
Our program did not do him justice in the Public Relations Department promoting him for the Heisman - they should have. It was a mistake not to. The guy was incredible on the gridiron - best WR I've ever seen play the game. Total man among boys in college. Closest thing I've ever seen to him in the college game was Tory Holt at NC State, in terms of a total package. Great hands, ran great routes, was fearless, very fast, physical ... would absolutely devastate DBs downfield blocking.

USC Football in 1987 = ECU Football in 2014. Sterling Sharpe was fantastic though and this is a well deserved honor.

Yet George Rogers won his Heisman seven years earlier.
Not going to get into a debate about SCAR's standing as a major independent in the 80s ... but they were certainly far above ECU today.
Regardless, there were five other ballplayers more deserving than Brown that year ('87) IMHO but, ... Notre Dame had the best PR department and TV coverage in the land back then. Hell, Thurman Thomas or Bobby Humphries, either one, deserved it more than Brown. Who else? How about Ironhead Heyward? Lorenzo White? That class of '87 was probably as loaded with future stars as any in the past thirty years. Emmitt Smith, was he a senior that year or did he just get votes?

I was at the '88 game vs Bama, Walls had a huge game that day. Dixon and I got drunker than Irishmen on St Patty's day. Left there not believing Ole Miss won that game. A few years ago I was talking to Dwight Clark at a golf tournament, I think Walls replaced Clark at San Fran ... but Clark had nothing but good things to say about him like not only was he a good ball player but a great person to boot.

Sterling Sharpe should be in the Pro Football HOF too, under the Gale Sayers unwritten career projection rule.
He would have been a 1st ballot player had he not been injured. He was unstoppable at times with Favre.
