He's coached Hybrids at USCe and UF before(among vicious passrushes), and I'm sure he can't be worse than xCLT as a coach. Thompson was a DC prior, but his 1st time coaching OLBs was at Bama.

Not to get ahead off nothing, but what would that do with Tosh Lupoi? Does he keep his spot in the shadows?

That is correct. Lawing was pretty good at UF.

Big drawback with him though, he has a substance abuse issue and has been in a program recently to help him get straightened out. It led to his departure at SCe and he dealt with it during his time at UF as well. Kind of a sad situation. Excellent technician as a coach though.

Seems everyone wants that type of coach, haven't really had a technician there since Sunseri. And Sunseri is supposedly never coming back.

Washington's new GM had a similar problem, fantastic talent evaluator, but picked up a nasty alcohol problem that cost him jobs with the 49ers and Seahawks.

It's a struggle, I can see both sides of employment. Does he need that time to focus on getting better, or does he need something to take his mind off of it?

Heck, depending on who you believe, Thompson had his own problems. Not so much substance abuse, but there's always been a not so subtle reference to him being a "ladies' man". Not so sure about now, but I know he was married in his 1st Bama tenure.

Hell Kiffin pimps out girls for recruits and IIRC wrecked his car, left the seen and supposedly a coed was with him the car prior to leaving UT.

I mentioned in another thread asking about Lawing. My friend said Saban reached out to gauge interest. Do not know if it is mutual or would come to anything.

I definitely think he would bring a bit of nasty to our D we seem to be lacking based on prior development with players he has coached. Also he might help with Cowart and CeCe.

So we are looking for a safeties coach? Does that mean Saban will coach CBs or also hire someone for those?

And dear God will Bobby Williams retire already?

I don't see how we could have two coaches for the secondary (in addition to CNS) unless that extra coach rule passes in the offseason.

There hasn't been much update, but BOL kind of sucks when it comes to coaching searches.

Another one bites the dust. Tyler Siskey, director of player personnel, going to be an assistant coach at South Alabama.

He couldn't deliver in 2014. Saban asked him to leave.

Asked about Lane Kiffin being at Alabama in 2015, Nick Saban said Lane has opportunities and he's helping UA recruit right now.

Nick Saban was very non-committal about Lane Kiffin returning to Alabama in 2015.

Asked abt how he felt about Lance Thompson going to Auburn, Saban said: Lance has been with us several time & he's done same thing each time

I'll take things that make you say hmm... for $500, Alex.

We know why he left for UT last time. Did he do it again? (pun partially intended )

Innocuous tweet that means nothing: Mike Groh is at the Senior Bowl in a NorthRiver golf hat.

Please.

I love Napier's recruiting, but damn it would be nice to have Groh again.
