Although I think Bama will win. I feel that the matchup with Fla State was much better suited for them. Ohio State will run the type of offense that Bama seems to continually have trouble with. I expect Ohio State to score early and often and Bama will have to rely on Kiffen to save the day again. Should be a great game, Nola hit the jackpot on this one. The Big Easy will be swamped with both fan bases.

Bama has a pretty nice advantage against their O-Line, and that O-Line is the only thing standing between their third string QB and whoever they have in line for fourth string.

The downfield pass has killed Bama this year. OSU ran the ball more than twice as much as they passed against Wisconsin. They won't be able to do that against Bama. We don't really know if their QB can deliver the ball down the field.

I think so too. I've been wanting to see this game since 2009.

You mean the one that Tennessee, Mississippi St., Western Carolina (lulz), Auburn and Missouri run?

I think Saban has started to come around against spread/zone read/up-tempo teams. And yes, I realized Auburn scored a lot on Bama.

Strangely enough, I think the biggest disadvantage for Bama in this game is that Saban and company will only have one game film of OSU's quarterback to break down.

I can just about guarantee you that they'll find old high school tapes to watch in addition to their game against Wisconsin.

I wouldn't say it's a bad matchup, but the fact that Ohio State's QB is somewhat of a mystery man might be interesting. Essentially have one game of meaningful game film to analyze. I'm sure Urban will change/adapt the playbook to Cordale Jones. I'm excited to watch all the games.

How did you come up with that? A second string QB in a run first offense is a terrible match up on their side not ours. The only thing that concerns me is we don't have a huge talent gap that we normally do (not including LSU and AU). They have almost as many 4* or better guys on that roster as we do. But match up wise we couldn't draw a better opponent.

I was about to post the same thing. There hasn't been a Big-10 team in the last seven years, that Saban's teams couldn't destroy. He designs teams to kick Big-10 asses!

I'm not saying I disagree, but is that based on talent? I think OSU's Oline has been playing pretty well lately, and were very good in the last few weeks.

I'm intrigued by the matchup for many reasons.

Saban/Meyer being the biggest, but sophomore Bosa against a true frosh LT where both are likely top 10 picks when they have the opportunity.

Obviously B1G/SEC etc. but if there is 1 team who has more talent than OSU it's Bama. OSU isn't used to that for sure, aside from practice

I think Doran Grant vs. Cooper is a huge matchup. I think OSU plays man most of the day, as they did against Lippett for Michigan State. He's obviously not Cooper, but Grant had a great day against him

3 weeks yea buddy

If they weren't down to their 3rd string QB then I might agree with you.

I wouldn't say that it's a bad matchup for Bama but this will be a good game. OSU is looking dangerous right now and New Orleans will be ROCKIN'!!!

How are Bama fans feeling about this "travel twice" thing that is happening now. Seems to have driven prices way down for tickets. N.O. is always a crap shoot for New Years anyway, add this and hotels are insane

Yeah, OSU's O-Line is much better than last year, (Michigan and Michigan State games were hard to watch) but Bama's had an advantage up front against almost everyone they've played this year. There's a lot of talent in depth along that front seven.

Fair enough

To the OP's point, I do think there are advantages OSU can potentially exploit. On offense, OSU needs to get their slot guys/TE's/rbs matched against the inside backers. OSU has a couple of deep threats (although Pollack somehow doesn't know that), as anyone watching the B1G title game can see. I honestly haven't watched a lot of Bama in the trenches to know if OSU can run on them at all.

As with Bama, a lot of teams can run until they play Bama. A lot of teams can stop the run until they play OSU.

I think it is a great matchup for Bama. O$U struggles against the run. Their LBs are average at best. Pass rush is left to one guy. If we can't move the ball on their defense we don't deserve to win. On defense, Bama will own the line all the while confusing the QB with multiple looks, zone blitz, etc. O$U will realize they aren't playing another B1G team about the halfway point of the first quarter. By mid third quarter, we will be in complete control and trying to get some guys out to prevent injury.

The only team I think will give Bama a very hard time, and could beat them, is Oregon. Could have a field day with their secondary.

Oregon will get hammered by both Bama lines. Plus, Oregon's run game is priomarily a power back and not a speed back. I look for the Ducks to struggle against Fla St because of that. And Fla St is a long ways from being big bad Bama.
